Ducati V4 SP WTF is it?

On a somewhat related note, there was a guy on a superlegera at Chuckwalla earlier this month who smoked everyone! He and his buddy (who was also on a Ducati) represented Ducati well. They were absolutely flying.
Yup and those are typically track only bikes that aren’t blinged out with the overpriced junk that is prevalent in the ducaworld. Most of the “campisi’d” out bikes show up blinged out and turn slow ass times. “But man I’m the fastest guy in my canyon riding group and look at all my CF” lol

No difference in cars. The Italian stuff looks great but I’ll take the German hardware every day of the week.

Yeah that is one of Richard Boyd's club racer guys that he sponsors/coaches/bike setup so definitely fast and no joke.

I don't understand all the hate for these "limited" edition Ducati's.
If they didn't release bikes like the SP, Speciale, Corse, Final Edition, Anniversario, then we'd just have a bunch of red bikes that basically look the same. Having different options for the same model (V4 range) is a good thing and caters to people with different tastes and wants.

I for one think the SP is great value over a V4S as I love all the parts that are included in the price and think the black colour scheme is the best that Ducati have ever come out with.

Even if you bought a V4S and tricked it out with the same parts as the SP, it wouldn't have the same appeal or resale to someone like me.
(No hate towards the V4S though)

There is no hate here but sounds like you haven't been around these bikes too long. Take a 996R, 1098R, 1199R and a V4R pop off the bodywork you will find the trend went from high quality to a ....... plastic dump pit more n more as time went on. No hate to a V4S? .... it's the worst out them all.

No hate here toward any of these bikes, they are all pretty cool. I have to disagree in there being any value in any of the above base models unless you just don’t want to do any work on the bike. The value play is to buy a base v4, sell stock wheels, suspension, brakes, wet clutch, and then you can upgrade all to beyond S/R/SP and still come in probably below that the S/R/SP would cost. I do like the SP paint though. Was never a fan of a red bike but I guess it’s growing on me finally.

With that said, I got 5k off my S so seemed like a good deal to me. Otherwise would had probably opted for base. I do like the electronics damping but that will eventually wear its welcome as I hope to outpace it. Fortunately I’ve had it revalved which has done wonders for it.

From this, to this. That Street Fighter has more plastic crap than a recycling plant.

Hey Design team, too much wine fellas. This is what a Ducati street fighter is supposed to look like not that clown cycle you pawned of on us.

A couple of other examples of how to do it right for the crew that got it wrong.

I had a good look at the latest streetfighter, its ok but I didn't warm to it. Yes plenty of plastic, no problems with plastic it's a generic term for a very diverse range of materials including with glass or carbon reinforcing. Have to be careful not to become like the Harley bro's that rage on about pan heads, cast iron and pre unit r/h shifters while the world moves on.

The wings though- worse than butt ugly.

The only thing better than a pan with right hand shift is a pan with right hand shift solid suspension front n rear and a plastic clear clutch cover : )
