Hi everyone, after many test rides on various bikes I finaly put money down on a 1199 Tricolor. A private sale from the States to be exported to New Zealand! Can't wait for it to arrive. I test rode an 1198S Corse and an Aprilia RSV4R Factory and I must say that the 1199S that I rode was the one I felt most at home with. I have always been a 4 and 3 cylinder guy (I have a bunch of Triumphs) but I have always hankered after a nice V twin. I did have an Aprilia RSV Mille 2000 but I much prefer the power delivery of the 1199. I think it has the best of ALL worlds. Enough grunt low down a good mid range so you are not constantly swapping cogs, and a steam catapult of a top end! I am getting withdrawall symptoms already!!
Cheers!

Welcome, what part of NZ you in? There are 5 of us in CHCH 2 x Tri, 2 x red and me on my white, or as they say on here in primer LOL.

Congrats Xen!

I cannot imagine the anticipation you will be facing waiting for it to arrive.

Congrats, I hope you're prepared for the bike to fail the noise test when you get it inspected.

Frosty, it's coming to New Zealand, noise won't be an issue!!!!! Unless you have a sacked out S15 or your stereo blaring at 2300hrs at night, then noise control will come and confiscate it!!!!

Congrats on the bike man.

I assume NZ has similar laws to Australia right? If so interested to understand how you are getting the bike complied to your market? I bought an 1199 new from the USA In Jan 2013 and am still yet to get the bike complied due to sound... Failed the sound test 3 times and am working with engineers to try and reduce the noise.

Interested to know how this is an issue, given bikes are being complied, as new for sale.

Re complying for Australia - when Ducati Australia import = no problems. When the little guy imports individually massive problems.....

Hi Carl. Thanks for the welcome. I am in Auckland, although therte will be a trip down South this summer. Would be great to meet up sometime! i rode the White 1199 it is a real nice perly white. Good choice!

Hard to cope, but I am hanging in there! Screensavers, Youtube clips, mags, the list goes on.

I'll let you know what happens when the time comes. Maybe I can borrow a standard can for the compliance. Who knows? Actualy, there is also the headlight that will need to be swapped or something to get it dipping the right way. Or is that the left way? Lol.
