I have been having issues with my 1199 since I bought it used with 7000 miles. I have put 500 miles on the bike, but it has been stressful. The electrical issues consisted of:
BBS error
Can error
Pulsating dash
Check engine light
Gas light
When starting the bike the starter will turn over one time and indicate that it does not know what gear it is in.

I found that disconnecting the battery would help for a bit, but issues came back. I cleaned the BBS connector under the seat, but issues came back.

While replacing the battery to a lithium battery i wanted to check the common to the frame. This is the problem: Ducati used a black oxide (this coating is not conductive) bolt instead of a solid non coated steel bolt. The leads, standoff washer and bolt had arching marks all over. The bolt was missing .5 mm of material due to excessive arching.

I used a Dremel to remove the oxide from the screw and to resurface all parts for grounding. Issue is gone!

with all those errors, I would start inspecting the wiring harness throughout the bike for any damage.

Download melcodiag and read the codes and start fixing things down the list.

All listed errors were very intermittent, sometimes I can go 100 miles without encountering an issue.

Good advice for the diagnostic software. I will be ordering the needed cables for the melcodiag software since I have an oil change approaching.

So far all issues are gone.
