engine heat

Hi guys,

Can you do anything against heat?
as soon as you are at the traffic light is too hot

I got caught in the rain last week and it was amazing how much cooler a wet box is.

or wear a dominatrix suit it'll block the heat , some people call these outfits leathers

I also get smoked by her in my moto jeans.
Although Bella stays a hottie, me in my 'SM' leather suit indeed works fine against her hot fumes.
I guess she likes me better in a slick second skin? :D

Accept the heat. Get used to it.

Yes I do and not a problem when racing nor wearing leather.

When touring in slow traffic on hotter days wearing Kevlar enforced moto jeans, she gives me a heat-rash on the backside of my left upper leg and even worse 2nd degree burns with blisters in both my knee cavities.

To remedy this I bought FIA approved fire/heat protection from Alpinestars. Their ZX Evo v2 bottom made of LenzingFR material which is similar to Nomex and Aramide, should protect me against her radiating exhaust.
Not abrasion resistant as Kevlar, but with Viscose added to the mix this 'legging' is very snug and comfortable as second skin.

My wife uses their LenzingFR long socks for the same reason on her M1100evo with succes: no more heat-rash for her.
I'll report back my experience with this probable solution soon...

Hey mate... may be worth reading the below thread for some background on all the sarcasm lol. Yup, it’s hot. To summarise, heat shields and clothing.

Really? Your linked thread (created only this month!) is just another repetition of what this thread and many more across the internet have already been discussing over and over about the PV4. This one even includes a sad but hilarious Tuono troll. :p
Why don't people just do a proper "Ducati+Panigale+V4+heat" search before opening another new topic?

It wasn’t aimed at you mate. I was just explaining to the bloke why so many were jumping down his throat in what is usually a civiliszed forum. And yes, really... the linked forum ends explaining why there is frustration about this topic being brought up again.

Meh, I don't mind the occasional duplicate post to reinvigorate an otherwise-lost conversation. I didn't know how to do a proper search until just now (thank you RdashP) and that thread has attracted 60 posts so far.

RdashP I'll be interested to hear how this works out. Haven't experienced any warmish weather in Aus with my V4S yet but I anticipate it will be...warm. Got to admit I initially burst out laughing at the thought of fire proof underwear but it sounds interesting. I am wondering, though, if the garment itself will be unbearably hot. In summer I have been wearing Dainese cool suit top and bottoms with leather pants and textile jacket. Best thing about the bottoms is they help to slip in and out of the leather pants. They cool by wicking moisture away but I don't know if they will provide much defense against radiant heat.

Yeah, I don’t care either.

Anyway... we had a pretty hot summer where I am in Aus, and yeah it’s hot, but it didn’t really bother me (and I knew it was the case before I bought it anyway).

At those temps it’s like riding into a hair dryer anyway. The little bit of traffic I sit in each day is where you notice it.

I would say it would be beneficial to reference the engine temp number displayed on the TFT so we can then know for sure when someone says "hot". Not all "hot"s are the same. In my case when I say it was hot in traffic, the engine runs upward of 215-220F.
Using Dainese Todi Slims jeans and never had any blisters or other nonsense. It just feels like it tingles. Mostly this happens hours into the ride and I would be on the way home. I guess it is what it is when it comes to it.

Still can not justify a $2k header to remove the most heat... :/

Just tried this 'laughable legging' and must say it simply works: in the knee cavities, behind the jeans fabric, this hi-tech LenzingFR material* shuts the heat out just a tad above my own body temp.
Although I can still feel the increased heat coming from the bike in my knee cavities, this layer improves heat resistance incredibly. No more rash/ blisters for me in slow traffic on hot days (>25oC). :D
This LenzingFR garment feels quite cool overall. Actually, It feels cooler/ less steamy than my normal 'plastic' moto leggings** which are 100% crude oil based derivatives.

For the record: any primarily oil based garment is potentially dangerous if you ever heat up to the point of catching fire.

Besides, both legging materials are similarly comfy as they increase the ease of sliding out my leathers/ jeans.

(* - modal-viscose/aramid/polyamide(!?)/elastane/carbon (61/26/8/4/1))
(** - polyamide(nylon)/polyester/elastane (60/30/10)

BTW as laughable as it may sound, Alpinestars developed this underwear specially for and is mandatory in most competition motorsports as heat/fire protection.
For example, Marquez and Dovi are probably wearing LenzingFR underwear too. Lewis and Max are wearing a similar Nomex based pyjama from Puma.
All to comply with this FIA standard:

Do the aftermarket exhausts significantly reduce radiated heat? If so, is it mostly due to eliminating the cat or re-routing the back headers (half vs full system)?
