So, rode home today from work. Did a baby burnout in front of some fine ladies while at a stop light. The bikes traction control kicked in and it hopped a little. Then, engine light came on. So, I'm freakin out! Anyone have the same issue? Or any solution to the problem?

Cheers to the weekend

The light comes up, there is no way to know the specific problem yet so no solution....other than knowing it is an engine related prob.

if you could still start the bike and ride it as usual, i don't think there is any major problem. Does the engine light stays or comes and go?

I was experiencing this (but not cause by burnt-out), went to the dealer did a diagnostic read with the DDS, was showing ABS, CAN, MAP sensor problems...It is not conclusive yet.
crazy .... on the CAN line.

still in the mist of investigating with the dealer...though there was nothing wrong with my engine..My light comes and go.

Yeah, the light comes on and stayed on. I only ride it for 100ft then wrote this message immediately. I am, however 300miles overdue for my 600mile checkup... I have to wait a ....... month... arrg.

So, I don't want to destroy my engine, but I gotta get to work... Still ride the thing?

Why another month before the first service? Just curious

It's all booked up here in SF.... busy time for servicing bikes I guess...

Thanks, good to know since I'll hit 600 pretty soon. Going have to start calling around tomorrow for an appointment.

Were are able to ride your bike home?

Did you turn the bike off and then restart? Is the light still on? The bike will reset all faults when you turn the key off and then restart the engine.

If it was just a glitch it will go away. If you have a true problem the light will come back on when it hits that problem again.

Oh yes, make sure to check the oil level since you are a little overdue on service. That should not have anything to do with engine light.

Was it worth it??

get to a DDS to read the DTCodes, with the light ever on these codes were already recorded in memory, you could clear there after.

For burnouts you need to program a mode with TC00 for quick switching. I made that in race mode. Had a friend pushing my rear tire at a stop. Rewarded him with some decent smoke and rubber pieces on the fairings :D

Wow, a whole friggin month? I called my dealer on Tuesday for the 600 mile service and he said to bring it in on Monday morning. I hope to get it back by the end of business day on Monday. The service guy asked me if the engine light came on and I said no. I wonder if that's normal to tell you it's time to bring it in for service. My truck has a service light that comes on every 5,000 miles.

Apparently, it was a faulty MAP sensor, replaced under warrenty....:D
