Engine light randomly coming on to day. Light would go off when the bike was on the over run usually after a big bang from the exhaust. But immediately come back on as so as i got back on the throttle.
No lack of power or rough running.

It has a rapidbike evo fitted, I came home unplugged all rb plugs back to standard etc but still got the bloody light.

Its annoying me as it may have to go to the dealers just to be read. Grrr

Could be many things. Just wish i could read the codes like my old 999

I have a back fire then blew a MAP sensor, check my thread on that and how to test without going to dealer. Least to eliminate them.

The light was coming on intermitantly and the series of back fires on the over run only happened for about 10-15 miles of an 80 mile ride.

As I switch the bike on now the engine light comes on even without a running engine.

MAP sensors are a membrane and a backfire can blow them, Motorapido told me that sold a few normally for the 899 when I was asking them before I bought one. I did have my exhaust flap disconnected, just fitted Akrapovic slip ons then I fired it up, bang then light on, but the bike ran fine with the light on, then I learn more about the 2 map sensors and made sense.
In the end if you are unsure then I guess its down to the dealer then plug it in to list the fault, but that does not tell the whole story, because I didnt want to fit a new map sensor then to blow it again, so I reconnected the flap and touch wood its been fine since.

Check your wires on your O2 sensors- if youve messed with them theyll start to break from being twisted. Had this happen to me replaced it- very easy.

Not sure prolly a solenoid that has something to do with the measuresing of air coming into the front ram air tubes for fueling maybe?

My engine light comes on without running engine also. It will start but will not rev without cutting out. Did you have these same symptoms?
