Engine mode when too hot

Hi,
It is that part of the year again: even with the modded radiator I see 106 celsius (222 fahrenheit) when rolling out to the track and taking the grid position. The engine management warning comes on. If I switch the engine off and restart the warning is gone (temp down a few degrees by then).
Is the engine in some kind of a safe mode with reduced power output? Or is that only my deception?
Thanks!

no clue. did you get rid of the fan?

Yes. There is no room for the original fan as the modded radiator is thicker than OEM. I am considering re-installing some kind of fan for next season. I plan to race twice this month and then my season is over.

with red flags, restarts and all that crap i'd definitely look into that. maybe even just a random fan wherever it fits on the cooler...

i had the high heat warning coming on once after flushing the coolant. there must have been an air pocket. but it did not affect the performance from what i could tell.

Time was too short today to buy Engine Ice (similar to Evans) and do the cooler replacement. So I bought MoCool (by Motul). It needs to be added to the cooling fluid in 5% ratio so was an easy thing to do. I will see how it works tomorrow. 110 fahrenheit is forecasted in shadow...

Evans Waterless coolant is a completely different product on the market, check with your local track if they allow it.

Would they would let you run it on the track?

They would and they do. All they check are very basic things on the bike. This is like a mass/hobby event here. You can ride there and race if you wish just take the mirrors and turn indicators off.

I will check for next season. I needed a quick fix now. Only Mocool was immediately available. I am not sure it helped much as I still saw 220-222 fahrenheit temperatures. As did a lot of riders, too. I am not sure what coolant and radiator they were using but it was an extremely hot day!
