Any guesses? Started doing it just today at the track. Does it while hot and cold, neutral and gear (so I don't think its the cylinder deactivation thing).

Bike runs well, makes full power, no warning lights or leaks. But noise is new.

Since it is a 2018, have you replaced the headers? They crack due to poor design, so maybe the heatshield mount cracked off and is rubbing on the header pipe?

Mine cracked at the heat shield mount and the crack propagated to the plugged sensor bung which promptly exited the vehicle. You can see the crack through the mount's weld in the attached pic.

OK the shop tells me you were spot on. Header itself was cracked as well as heat shield mount. They are going to replace with another stock header they have laying around so glad its not anything major.

Thanks all,

Was about to say it sounds like an exhaust leak.

Glad you found the culprit, good luck 👍

Glad it was just that. Hopefully the spare is a 2019+ header.
