EVO racing map disappeared after MelcoDiag use?

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Just a follow up on this issue. I took the bike to my Ducati dealer and they hooked it up to the Ducati diagnostic computer and it indeed is the stock map(not for the exhaust system) that is currently loaded in the ECU mapping... :(

I think at this point(for ease as well) I may just go for the Termignoni T800 UpMap kit.

Is it possible Mick and/or Beller are going around stealing up maps???

Sometimes the ones pointing the fingers are doing exactly what they are accusing!

What a mess lol

Don big difference between a Upmap (which is crap) compared to a platform such as Woolich which I have been running for a couple years now does not get much better then that. You will never have the resources or tools to be messing with such platforms. I would ask the guys at Newport Ducati if they can set you up with some sort of tuning.

Hey John,

Are you running the latest Melco software rev 2.0.0.4? It will tell you if you have loaded a UpMap you have to unload it before doing any resets then once finished reload the map. For anyone running Woolich or Tuneboy using Melco has zero effect.

Yeah I saw that too in my melco but OP said he didn’t reset anything. Looks like maybe it wipes it even if you don’t

Not a problem here. With Woolich+ software my maps are saved on my laptop. They said something about letting me play around with the +beta which will give me the capability to adjust kill time in my QS. Wonder if they offered that to you Mick?

Oh snap

The QS adjustability is in the software I have had for 2 years. Not sure what you are referring to. That feature certainly isn’t new.

Don how can you have any maps saved you have not even ran the bike, no wideband sensors and no log box so that means no saved maps. What the .... is +beta no correlation to this stuff so what you even trying to do here? Quickshift adjustment stuff will not work with your oem up shift sensor you need a strain gauge unit with load cell (3 wire) plug yours is 2 wire plug so again talking all this stuff is far beyond above your knowledge and experience. This is what a correctly tuned R motor looks like after 3-4 logged tunes looks like far from anything stock.

Do either of you own a R?

Woolich software does not currently offer the public anything for the 12-14R far as the QS goes

I ain’t trippin. Same guy that I bought my exhaust from had a few spare stand alone systems with strain gauge

The fuel map ends up looking like it ends up looking. Yours doesn’t look that different than mine did with the upmap

I would love to see what you did with the EVT and ignition maps tho : )

Mick,
I checked the version of my Melcodiag when I got home from work and it indeed was an older version. I downloaded the 2.0.0.4 and as you said, it now has a big pop up warning about removing your UPMAP before doing any resets…

Well, I guess even if it cost me(and many others) hundreds of dollars each, at least they addressed the problem going forward!

JPDIAG Panigale 1199 WARNING with UPMAP - Don't plug it in!!!!!

Hi All, I followed this thread when I hit the problem of the "Racing" not appearing at power up. So my scenario is I plugged in the latest version of the JPDIAG software and selected the bike. It popped up with the message about if UPMAP is loaded etc. I did nothing, did not even go into any reset areas. The software was able to read the bike and provided all the info. BUT when I unplugged and re-powered on the bike the "Racing" was gone.

I emailed JPDIAG who said that was odd as I had not registered the software yet and hence it can only "read" the bike and certainly could not write back to the bike.
I tried the dongle but as others have said, it said the map was already on the bike.

So what it looks like is the UpMAP for "Racing" is already on the bike. When you "Load" the stick, it triggers the bike to activate the map AND writes to the stick to say it has been "used". When you plug the stick in again, I presume it then deactivates the map and marks the stick as "unused".

So, my theory was that the bike noticed the JPDIAG tool and thought it was a stick and therefore deactivated the map. BUT then of course the bike and stick are now out of sync with the bike having no map and the stick saying it has been used. Symptoms other recorded in this thread.

I took the bike to a Ducati Dealer and also wrote to Ducati explaining the situation. Their response was I have attached a non Ducati component to the bike so bad luck. I went back to them and explained that I had plugged effectively an OBD2 standard device into my bike and had effectively "Bricked" it ie it should run the Termi pipes with the map. Who knows what happens if you run a non termi map with the pipes on. If there are issues they will refer to Termi with wrong map destroyed the bike I am sure. So I pushed the OBD2 standard path again which in Australia is a requirement for vehicles and told them again this was not fit for purpose to have the OBD2 port that does not behave properly.

I acknowledged the bike was out of warranty and that I would pay for any labour and reasonable costs to put the bike back. Their solution, buy the Pipe set again. What The!!!!!

More emails and threats of a product not fit for purpose, ie OBD2 standard stuffs it, and they started working with a dealer. They were reluctant at first but then I think they and Ducati must have spoken and they offered to help. They happened to have an unused key I could purchase, which I did, but other than that there was no solution. This is not a good thing as eventually there will be no more keys around.

so BE CAREFUL with these maps. They are fragile and hate playing with other parts. I am even too afraid now to unload the map to see if that process works as if it fails, I am back to square 1. Oh and now I am locked into maintenance being done by a dealer. A pain as I have always done my own work. Had a 2004 GSXR750 which I basically stripped and put back together. That will not be happening with the Pani now. Not that it needs it just yet but in 10 years time, who knows what Electronic jiggerry pokery is required and will not be available.
Hope this saves someone.
