I've never had an exhaust on my bikes other than the stock ones. but I am wondering what if you put an aftermarket exhaust on without tuning it. would u feel any of the bad side affects of not tuning it? I don't do and track days or ride hard so would it make a difference if I don't tune it. is there a lag or poor throttle response? thanks guys

Just go the slip ons and the standard up map that comes with them. All the sound and looks you will need. :)

I have the full system myself. :D

I just had the Termi slips, 41t sprocket, and updated mapping. Runs way smoother than stock and sounds better as well. You can go with Termi full system and have updated mapping automatically. Or, you can go with other manufacturers, but I think we've seen that to have it run optimally, you'll need additional fueling modules and dyno time. Depends on what you want in terms of sound, looks, and how much $$$ you're looking to spend.

I can't get my mind away from the AR and Rich claim that the system runs fine without any module unless I wanted the rapidbike. but then Waf on the other hand is tuning the crap out of his bike. so my question if will I notice any difference if I don tune the AR system, just plug and play?

billy

i believe that you can get sumthing like akra and just plug it in
it run fine but there will be no gain besides lose of weight.

to get the most out of anything EVEN the termi you need to tune it.
each condition country state weather terrain will effect the bike
italy is different to australia im sure weather wise, so how can they get the best for my bike with there upmaps
saying that termi slips will be the best bargain. termi full if you want that lil more.

and i reckon akra will be the most money but most rewarding in the end..
akra may have smaller diameter pipe then termi but that userly translate to better torque

anyhow i look forward to seeing what akra myself
i havnt made my mind
hope this answer your question

thanks, so the other question if will I NOTICE any lack of performance if I don't tune it

billy my .02 Just go with termi slips. is 5 -10 hp worth 4k to you where you can actually use it? Most on here cant get what this bike has stock out of it. My bet is you cant either. full termi loses power midrange its proven. you gain power high end. Slips are a better bet. akra is 4k which is 13% of the price of your bike plus install plus the tuning if you want it (dont need it akra claims). ar no offense is just ugly and its not duel its one side. termi you get the unlocked ecu countless updates no need to tune and you save the weight on the cans. the full system is still stainless so you get no weight savings.
be smart this is all a marketing ploy.

if money were no object and your a racer i would go akra otherwise slips IMO are the way to go.

to your tune question i doubt you will lose performance. you will get a nice system and sound if you dont tune. however it wont be the best. someone on here compared it to a tailered suit. yes off the rack is great but custom is always better.

+1 - exactly what Mark419NY said. Best summary of option and price/gain ratio I've seen yet.

As others have said already, to extract the most out of any system it really needs to be tuned. Most of the systems out there should be plug-n-play but on YOUR bike in YOUR area that might not be the case. Out here in the desert my bike (w/Termi slips) runs like .... with out the Termi mapping. So technically it's not plug-n-play. Others don't have that problem. As to whether you'r butt dyno will notice a difference..... well again that depends :D

True, but the mapping is included in the purchase so I would call that plug n play. Could obviously be improved upon with tuneboy or similar product, but seems more than acceptable without based on OP's questions.

ive been goin back and forth with the termi slips and AR. I know I'll save a bunch with the termi but I want the sound of the AR. I remember some guys on here said that the sound on the slips is not much of an $1800 dollar difference. but I could be wrond cus Ive never heard it in person yet

I went with the Termi full system as I wanted to get rid of the valve and cable and wanted to have black ceramic applied for a different look. Hard to justify taking old system off and sending slip on and old pipes out to get coated and be without the bike for several weeks while having done.

Also like the idea as to not getting any hastle from dealer on warrenty work if something should happen as Ducati and Termi work together.

If there is an upgrade to software as there has been it is no problem getting upgraded.

All good points, but my dealer took the valve and cable off with the slip-on install.

The Termi Slips aren't what they use to be or should be IMO with regards to sound,; although I still like'm lol. However, the AR system isn't cheap and that's a lot of coin for a sound improvement.

How did the dealer fit the slip-ons if they took the valve out?
The valve should surely stay in place otherwise the slips wont fit with the remaining plumbing:confused:

My valve is still in place, it just remains in the open position.

Cheers

Agreed.
At this stage, it's possibly best to remain connected to the DUCATI collective and remain in the loop for potential warranty issues.

Cheers

I think the AR is an ugly setup. IMHO (putting my nomex suit on now) :D

Actually this thread has reminded me to go and disconnect my flapper valve. Time to do it right now. I always reconnect it before a service at the dealer.

I want akra to come out with some slip ons.....I like the look of them, but don't need the full system.

Easiest route is Termi Slips. Nice sound, good power, existing map gives good fuelling. If you put any sort of race pipe on you'll need to tune.
