Exhaust Flapper Valve Issues

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

finally got around to doing this with a pair of long handled flat screwdrivers, was indeed a 30sec job as detailed - thanks. Looking forward to losing the quiet spot!

just did it this morning, I thought it was the c-clips that were needed to be removed, took me about five minutes to figure it out. doh!!!

Bump.

The dealer I bought the bike from had issues with the valve staying closed at the first service so they wired it open. It sounded great.

I just had the bike in at a different dealer to do the warranty replacement on the lower right fairing as I don't live by the dealer I bought it from. So after the they installed the exhaust piece and fairing, when I pick up the bike they were like "for some reason your exhaust valve was wired open, so we undid that for you." FFS.

Guess I'll be doing this myself.

Just unhooked my servo on my 2013 1199s, and it seemed to fall on its face when I opened the throttle @165 degrees. I really didn't notice any improvement in sound or performance. Did not get any computer error codes. Not sure if it helps at all.

While we are reviving old threads-

Finally did this this after a year. If you wait as long as I did spray a little WD40 on the end of the cable where it slots in. I couldn't get it out before spraying it. Now to test ride!

The ecu does store a fault with the cable removed from the valve but no cel. My dealer gave me .... for it at the 622 mile service. Told them to forget about it I didnt care.

1299S starting issue after exhaust valve set full open - Solution

Removed my exhaust servo motor cable making the exhaust permanent free flow (Akrapovic slip on which also replaces the Cat converter bits). Engine performance improvement observed. One problem is that in cold weather the motor battles to fire up. It seems that the exhaust valve system actuates closed to create imcreased compression to assist startup of the twin. Simply blocking one or two exhaust ports with your boot can help quickly ignite start ups. Hope this is helpful.

I don't think it does that. Its a sound thing that activates and certain revs and speed. I am 99% sure it does not activate during start up to help the bike start. If your bike will not start in cold weather something else is wrong.

I cannot get my cable out, I don't know how everyone has done it so easily. There is not enough slack on my cable to be able to slide it out of the guide/seat...
Is there any chance someone can make a video to assist?

See the round piece that the cable attaches into. Turn that clockwise which will be towards the cable. Hold it and at the same time use some needle nose pliers to take out the cable. 10 second job. No need for video. :)

Trying to remove mine

How the f*ck do you remove the exhaust bolt behind the shift linkage?

1199 I ended up cutting a Allen key so I could use in that tight spot, so got the bolt undone :)

But the problem I now have is how do I remove the rod the actual flapper has been removed but can't remove the rod?

you need to cut the rod in the center and then wiggle the 2 halves out to the inside.

This is what just finished doing.
