I would think at 90 degrees or higher the tires would be off the ground.
Would point out that r1's, zx10's and all those other "cool street bikes" win the most races at any level of competition around the world and that they all have tilt sensors fitted but if you are a Ducati taliban its not gonna change your mindYes, a tilt sensor is certainly feasible as they are employed on many bikes. The conundrum is how to implement “lean angle” to “crashed”. What angle is “bad”? 60deg, 75?, 90deg?, and for how long? Maybe I’m Mark Marquez and can recover from a 90deg lean angle, but now my engine shut off and I crash…
This is why “street” bikes may employ them, but “race” bikes do not. Ducati are race bikes, others are just cool street bikes.
Considering it takes 12 hrs to drain the oil, I’m sure you’re not running into starvation if it’s only for a few seconds. I mean it’s possible to briefly invert a piston motor and still maintain oil pressure (ie old WW2 planes)
think again
What's been the damage to your bike WetDog?
I’m inclined to agree but I think most ww2 planes used dry sump oil systems.
I'm at the bike show in the UK, and, I've found their technical representative (note, not Ducati UK CEO).
He's advised, no current Ducati has a tilt switch.
WTF!
He has given me an email address to make further enquiries...
