Feel the burn and she hates traffic

They're not alone unfortunately, go and try a BMW (car not bike), exactly the same!

When I had the '12 bike, it had heat problems. I made it a little bit better before the recall, but after the recall heat shields, it was fine. No problems on any of the later models.

I have Halvarson too quality trousers, heavy weight and when I was riding thd Panigsle had to keep the speed up to keep cool air flimw!! It is thd only fault!!

You gotta wear proper riding pants to avoid the inner thigh burn.

I used to get it all the time until I stopped wearing regular jeans. Also, I don't believe the burns actually came from the exhaust but the screws on the cylinder cover.

You're going to have fun in the summer! Until then, ride as much as you can and your thigh will become less sensitive. Standing up helps. This bike, though, was just not designed for organisms with heat receptors.

The good news is the burns go away and no one has caught on fire. (Though I'll admit that in hotter weather (and pre heat-shield), I've involuntarily slapped my thigh thinking that it had, in fact, caught fire.)

I was wearing Dragin jeans, still got the burn?

Nothing yet. Still working on a viable solution.

ETA: The below may be a good alternative but it's too rich for my blood at about ~$450.

Does it help to remove the engine covers? I would think that would trap heat and make it worse. I could be wrong though.

No.

I have the bone stock covers on and wearing leathers I have no problem with any part of that even on hot summer days pushing it.

The engine covers were part of the mod that Ducati came out with to alleviate heat issues .... so presumably not...

I opted out of putting the covers on. Looks tacky. I never had an issue with the heat there though. I wear some heavy riding jeans. I mostly get just the radiant heat from the exhaust loop and exit. But, only a problem in stop in go traffic.

My '14 R came with the vertical cylinder covers for each side. We ride year round and see temps as high as 115 degrees in Borrego Springs. I really didn't notice any difference between having the covers on or not. I like the look with them off the best.

I had a look at this today Wolf, for me anyway, it's not the bolts previously mentioned as they are too low and too far in for my legs to get anywhere near.

For me it's the actual sub frame. Went for a half hour ride to the shopping centre and back and have the "rash" on both inner thighs and it's exactly where my legs rest on the sub frame.

Does anyone know if the carbon covers that are available will dissipate the heat?

Prior to having the carbon subframe covers I couldn't touch the subframe after a ride. The heat to me is still there but now I'm able to have my legs touch the subframe with the covers on. Doesn't give me heat rashes anymore.

SuperLilVespa

This IS an option. And comes with Akra pipe installed. NO heat at a all.

Thanks Kev, which ones did you get?

The weather was nice in NorCal so I took out my Panigale for a quick 50 mile sprint run through Berryesa.

During the city traffic, I did notice the heat near my right hamstring but couldn't see how the vertical cylinder covers can possible burn your legs. I'm 6'2 and peg the ball of my foot so maybe my height changes the angle.

Honestly, city traffic and heat are not that bad but then again, it was only 50 miles of canyon riding. I feel like my 1098 w/Termi's generate more heat than the Panigale does with stock pipes.
