hey guys i did not follow everything you guys have said here, but i have some info that i do't know you guys have.

i received a call from biggelaar peformance (ducati tuner in holland) about the possibility to improve my bikes performance.

they have done a couple of bikes ( stock- slips- full ) and they put a rexxer on the bikes but instead of just doing that only.. they custom tune the mapping for your bike through the rexxer.

with these mods a pani with just slip-on termis wil come around 186-188 Hp on the rear wheel! they started out also with hp around 172-174 wthout the mods and after they came out with serious gains.

me myself i have the slip ons as well and MWR airfilter kit and 14T front sprocket, and i am going to the dealer in a week or so to let them check out my bike.

really curious what they get out of her.

greets from amsterdam

Track day with HP4 and Panigale

I took both bikes to the track today.

I was anticipating a great back to back duel but unfortunately it was a bit one sided!

I thought that with the new 41T sprocket and new tune the Pani would be brilliant as it was already so good at the track.

Unfortunately I discovered that the tune had completely f****d the throttle action and the hair trigger I described yesterday was real, it surged and bucked so much it made fine throttle control a massive task, unsettling the bike mid corner if I hit a bump or had to back off. We didn't have time to test ride as the install was so late. So I'll be going back to get the guys to give it another go! It wasn't like that before so I'm sure they will be able to sort it out.

So of 7 sessions today I only did 3 on the Pani, and the HP4 the rest. The Beemer was great, incredibly stable and fast. The bike was so easy to place on the track and keep a line. The brakes were phenomenal and the gear shift was mint!

Before heading to the track I was sceptical about whether I could enjoy the Beemer as much as I had the Pani last time out. Now I'm not so sure.

Thanks for the unvarnished info, WA. I'm sure they'll get you sorted, too!

Out of curiosity, what track did you ride? Pacific? Spokane?

For sure, its just a temporary glitch caused by the tune, wasn't there before.

Going to take the opportunity to put the second baffle in, its still too loud for the street with one.

We were at Barbagallo, Western Australia.

I was just happy that a dyno sheet posted on the Internet had torque and HP crossing at 5252.

So I wasn't familiar with that concept so I google'd '5250rpm' and did some reading. It seems that its a mathematical certainty that horsepower equals torque (in ft-pounds) times RPM divided by 5250 if you show the graphs plotted on the same scale of axis. Therefore for an engine revving higher than 5,250rpm , any dyno chart with TQ measured in ft-ibs should show the two crossing at 5,250 of plotted on the same scale, if not then the result may be questionable. Now I get it. Useful check.

If they don't cross at 5252 then check the labels. They will be different for torque on one side and HP on the other. It's not a big deal and doesn't invalidate the dyno unless one doesn't know what one is looking at/doing.....

Most cross at 5252 for ease of use/readability, especially if AFR is displayed on the same graph.

What irritates me are graphs posted with MPH instead of RPM.

Will adding the second baffle come at the expense of a bit of performance?

Stupid question time...
What was the engine and ebc setting? 195lo and ebc 3?

Stupid question time...

It was Race mode (195hi, EBC 3, ABS 1 etc)

This was nothing to do with settings, I've tracked the bike several times before and this was a completely different bike, even since the first Tuneboy tune which did of none of this.

After the first tune my only negative feedback was that the engine felt a bit like it could stall on take-off or moving slowly in low gear - requiring more clutch work than normal. So they were supposed to fix that but clearly buggered it up ;)

It will get fixed!

Will adding the second baffle come at the expense of a bit of performance?

Inevitably, but with what they've wrung out of it and the 41T I'm hoping it won't make much difference. Before I go to two I'm going to go back to the baffle being on the left as it had a more 'tuneful' sound. That side I need a mechanic to change but the right side is easier for me to change so I can experiment.

So, what did you think of the suspension and DDC?

So, what did you think of the suspension and DDC?

Was great for me, no complaints at all tracked beautifully. Only tweak I might make is rear compression but that's easy.

Met a racer there on a tuning session and he'd replaced the DDC, said it couldn't keep up with track pace. He'd replaced the exhaust muffler etc as well - when I asked why he bought it over a standard RR he said 'traction control'.

I was considering getting a standard and just upgrading from there, wheels, exhaust, etc... I thought the only difference was DDC and that the traction control was standard??

Apparently the HP4 traction control system is new or different. It certainly worked well yesterday although I wasn't stressing it ;)

I don't like the wheelie control though. It's not like it cuts in when the bike reaches a certain angle, it still lifts the wheel in some situations, its like if it 'thinks' you've grabbed a handful too much it cuts in almost straight away.

I picked up an HP4 Competition recently and the TC is worlds better than my '10 s1k's. They fixed the steering rake issue from the '10 as well (from '12 on) so handling is much better as is braking. The launch control is mediocre and the DDC is very good out of the box but will need to be replaced if I decide to race it the remainder of the season.

All in all, the bike is fantastic.

Next track day, Aug 24th, I'll be on the Panigale again. Despite its woes yesterday its the bike that mastering will make me a better rider. The HP4 will be a more occasional track weapon and daily ride.

I also have the AR exhaust. I live in Norway. I'm about to flash the ECU with the TuneBoy AR tune. I would very much appreciate to receive "your" TuneBoy map too should you ever make it available!

I am very happy with the exhaust - and the sound is amazing :)
