Thanks so much WAfatboy. You and people like you are the reason forums are indispensable for owners looking to avoid wasting time, money and tears if they're not the "pioneering" type.

Your reports have made my decision to just upgrade my Termi slips with the Termi header. I can get those for around $1,500 or so, they're quieter (the slips are loud enough for me) and I probably can get away with just the up-map that comes with them instead of hours and hours tuning and aftermarket fuel controller stuff to compromise my remaining 22 months of warranty.
 
I was interested in the very begininng, but how it altered the look and the extreme loudness, I lost interest early. It is very similar in power to Termis, so the only reason to buy it would be the looks/sound. But what hoops would someone have to go through to get the perfoamnce of the bolt on Termi? I do't have the resouces for dyno tuning here (oters don't as well), so I guess you would be forced to buy the RB from AR, and trust (yea, right) their numbers as being yours.

What, no dyno run on the HP4 to compare to?
 
@WAf,

It would be awesome if you could share the final map so those of us with an AR exhaust could have a solid starting point. I know you said via PM, that you don't have access to them directly because you've been dealing with a tuner. It should be easy enough to download them from the ecu or maybe your tuner saved them?

I would be happy to pass some $$ your way which would help offset some of your costs.
 
Thanks WAfatboy. A very clear & unbiased report on this product. I'm sure other members appreciate the time, effort & $$$ you put in to this. It gives us a chance to make informed decisions for ourselves.
 
So in summary....

You like the end result.

You were mad at AR about how they handled the process. Although I still maintain all this could have been avoided had you just dealt with them in private while the kinks were worked out.

The pipe is not a "magic elixir" that promises something it wont' deliver. It does deliver, but like I said had a few things to be ironed out. Not really a surprise given it is so new and not many real world experiences to drive development at this stage of the game.

Can everyone shut up now?

He's a slow learner that's for sure.

People who complain about people complaining. Must be a cop.
 
just wait till this AR pipe blows apart in short order [just like the Aprilia one's did] with those welds and thin material. you think the bracket breaking was bad...and then of course Rich will blame you the customer and/or the installer.

if WAf tuned the full Termi ad nauseam like he did the AR he'd have similar result and saved a pile of money and grief.

Rich = FAIL
AR = FAIL
Burnsy = FAIL
gnance = FAIL

the proof aka REALITY is all over this forum.

WAf called it like it is, saying NEVER would he buy this AR nonsense again. that IS the conclusion. period.

if burnsy wants to open a "i got the AR exhaust and i love it" thread, it's his right to do so.

You would think that given the number of times Burnsy uses expletives that he would at least know how to spell them by now?????
 
Those of you that have children (I don't). At what age would you estimate Bugsy's intelligence & communication skills level compares to? I'm guessing no more than 7. I remember trying to reason with kids when I ran a day camp. At certain points I just had to accept that they were not able to have an adult conversation. I think that's what going on here. Maybe blocking him is the only way to move past this in any way. I'm certain we won't miss anything important.

Let me have a chat and see how it works, I'm sure something could be worked out but I'm relying on them, will certainly ask.
 
Thank you for your perseverance and your generosity in sharing your results WA. You have the patience of Job. I decided on AR primarily for looks and a more rugged sound, but I certainly won't complain about more power.
