FINALLY got the new 1199 Akra system on my bike today!!

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Finally, I got my new 1299S last week and installed the full Akra from my 1199S. It fits perfectly. Doing this, I also dismounted those ugly plastic covers of the rear cylinder and changed the respective mouting screws to normal ones. And I'm riding the 15/41 gearing, for me the best option for country road driving.

Rode yesterday the first 200 km, even with standart mapping the bike runs well and smooth. But I'm trying to get the DP Up-Map key to activate the OEM Mapping for the full Akra. By the way, no error indication with standart mapping althougt the flapper valve servo unit is gone.

So much for that comment. ..

LOL exactly..

I am new here but I see a pattern of negativity with him.. I thought everyone here was too old to still be insecure (insecurity leads us to put others down, be condescending and suffer from I-am-right....always syndrome)

but like I said, I am new-ish here and may be I saw a bunch of negative remarks by coincidence..

I've actually enquired with my dealer about this, buying an Akra or fitting an Akra yourself, and from 3rd party, they won't supply you with a map key only. Apparently!

Hopefully i'm wrong.

That's basically true, but my dealer has some special connections to Italy so he thinks he can get one for me, I hope he is right!

Or, try and find one that bought the Akrapovic for 1299S from the dealer on this forum, and maybe you can use his upmap key? or is it VIN coded?

For the Termi Up-Map-Keys, if you activate the mapping on one bike, you cannot use it on another bike unless you have reactivated the OEM mapping on the first bike before. I guess it's s ´the same for the Akra Up-Map, so only if somebody bought a DP full Akra and has made a custom map based on the OEM map, the Up-Map could be used for annother bike...

So Frustrating! I would just go Power Commander V and get better fueling sorted out! But then that's not "original"

I know you are new to the forum and would not have seen the many times this has been answered.

1. If you disconnect the cable from the flapper valve on a std exh you do not get any code on the dash. FACT

2. If you then take that bike to the dealer and he attaches his diagnostic thing to your bike and you do not have the cable attached, the diagnostic thing(computer whatever) will tell the mechanic the cable is not connected, in other words indicate a fault. The mechanic will happily reconnect the cable for you. This happened to me and I happily undid it again when I got home.
3. If you buy an Akra Evo system for your bike and you remove the OEM system which removes the flapper valve and you remove the servo motor which pulls the cable, you still will not get any error code on the dash. FACT. If you then take your bike down to the dealer and he puts on his diagnostic widget/computer whatever he will see a code on the device. He will also see you have no flapper valve as you have a new system on it.

I do not know what up map you refer to. No up map comes with an aftermarket non Ducati Products supplied Akra.

I understand that the DP Akra accessory exhaust for the new 1299 and 1199R comes with an up map key like the old Termi slip ons and full system. Once you attached the up map key the dash would show Racing or Racing Evo at start up if memory serves correct. I never had one of those as I waited for the Akra to come out. I hope I have answered maybe some of your question. I know not all of it.

cheers

Very much appreciated.

That is what I was wanting to know. I knew the upmap only came with the "official" Akra from Ducati. So my question was, "is that upmap needed to clear codes?". And you answered that.

If the upmap ONLY altered the A/F ratio, then I wasn't going to spend the money on the official exhaust just to get the upmap. I will get the exhaust (aftermarket) from my sponsor and then just sort out the A/F via aftermarket tuner.

Thanks again.
