Just swap the Pani for an RSV4 Factory and don't look back. The Pani is a very good bike, so Im not saying it is "bad", but it certainly is not a great bike like the Aprilia RSV4 and the Ducati 1198S/SP...

Hard to tell for me. I'm 60 years old and I bought the bike more or less as a "bucket list". I had a 2009 Z06 Corvette which I figured was the ultimate performance car (for my income bracket at least) and I thought it would be fun to own the ultimate bike within reason. I really didn't know how many miles I'd really put on the bike especially given that I have two other bikes I love riding.

But at about six weeks now I am addicted to putting 150 miles on it every Sunday morning, and can't wait to do it again the next Sunday. I had expected there would be no reason to upgrade this bike at my age - upgrade money would go to my other bikes that get lots of miles put on them. Just not sure how it will play out. But for now I'm having a hell of a good time on it.

I have a Diavel now and getting an R in June. Plan is to use it for street and track until death do us part. Will keep the Diavel as it is a very versatile machine. :)

I'm going to finish all Mods and when the warranty runs out, Then do some motor-mods and I'm going to ride it and then hand it down to my daughter she's 13yo now so I have some time with the bike to track and street before she is ready for it :) Then I get a new 2017 Super Ducati Blast-O 5000 err or whatever they have :)

"2017 Super Ducati Blast-O 5000" I heard its going to have a hyperquadro engine ;):D

Before my kid was born 3 years ago I had 4 bikes. But now with limited time and a less-understanding wife I pretty much am reduced to 1 bike. The last couple of bikes I've had street and race bodywork and upgrades to make them better for the track than the street. I'm planning the same with my 2012 base, starting with Bitubo XXF61 race shock and nitrogen-charged steering damper. Already have Rizoma rearsets and full race bodywork that needs to get painted. Got S Wheels for the track and a Termi slip with a Bazzaz Z-Fi and custom map waiting for installation/tune at the first service.

We'll see what Ducati comes out with in the next couple of years. I don't think they will do a 1098 to 1198 jump, that was more them just chasing the SBK rules back then. I think future bikes will come with Skyhook-style active suspension as that's the near future and the DES will be leaps and bounds better than now. 175+ rwhp is going to be enough for a while, except for the barstool-racers. I really think they will refine the bike with what they learn from SBK racing and based on what BMW does with their S1000RR, that's the main competition in marketing terms.

I'll get the next flavor of the week in a couple years. Maybe turn my "S" into a drag bike (lower it, extended swing arm, turbo, air shifter etc).

"Swap the Pani for an RSV4 Factory and don't look back" (just make sure you spend a lot of time on the Panigale forum after you do so, because that's all part of not looking back. While you're at it, spend some time on Scion, Mustang, Buick and Lotus forums discussing the benefits of air cooled VWs, too. Someone has to light a candle in what would otherwise be complete and total internet darkness!!!!

Perhaps the baby Panigale, the 799 Panigale which is rumoured to be out soon..

"None of the above" - Being my first Ducati, and the fact I still have my '92 ZX7R, and just sold my '90 ZX11 a bit back to purchase the K1300S, I think I will keep it forever (my forever).

I look back at some older Ducatis, and still love their looks, so I think the Pani's beauty/specs will be timeless for quite some time...

Since I over-analyze most vehicle purchases and then keep them for a long time to rationalize the expenditure, I'm planning the same scheme for this bike. My '03 ST4s is still a joy for taking the missus out and less-focused sport riding, so the Panigale satisfies the wicked little voice in my head that keeps saying, "Faster!" Never tracked the ST, but that's what I'll be doing more of with the 1199. Have always wanted a Ferrari, but for a LOT less dough, this Italian does it for me.

I agree on the older Ducs being timeless and this one probably be the same. You have quite a bit of mods done already right?

Yup - other than the wheels, I tried not to do anything to alter the original design in any distinctive way. I think the mag wheels (or CF if you like to live dangerously ;) ) are the single best mod to do to a Base. At 2K it's a lot for one mod, but if I had started there, I might not have done much else.

It is the only mod that accomplishes 3 things: With a large un-sprung wieght reduction, it helps both performance and handling, and then improves looks as well. :)

modded her extensivly for track only ! next to the 999R older sister and MTS1200 touring kitted Sport.

on the menu for 2013:

Zolder, Mettet, Spa Francorchamps, Assen, Donington, Brands Hatch, Cadwell Park, Le Mans, Mugello and Barcelona ...

should be a good year. :)
