If I'm gonna swap to a 41T, then it's gonna have to be another DIY job.

Would really appreciate some step by step guidance, as I've never had cause to remove the rear wheel on a Ducati in all my years. Am slightly concerned about this part, so would like to understand what I need and how tricky it is.

Torque values would also be super useful.

Will def install a carrier to make subsequent changes easier.

So far on the tool list I have:

- DID chain splitter
- Star socket (steel)
- Extension pole for wrench

Thanks!

Xbox,

Did the same thing a few weeks ago, great results. I used a 525 chain and an AFAM Quick Change Longevity kit which has a steel sprocket (many use the lightweight aluminum version) which came with an aluminum carrier which I suspect comes with the AFAM LW version. Unless you purchase a Sprocket Hub (AEM 6 Hole Sprocket Hub Cover) and Cush Drive kit you will be disassembling the old sprocket when you get it off.

Zvez's input on the impact wrench was golden - use it to break that rear nut loose then use the torque wrench to get it back on.

One reason I went with the 525 chain was that I had low miles on the bike and didn't want to change out the front (lots of stuff to take off) so it was a clean swap. Can't recall the number of links for this solution but Gunny Fitz called it right in one of his posts on the many threads on this subject.

My eccentric hub stuck when I went to full slack to haul the new chain on board, this caused all sorts of aggro. With lots of good input from this group, I loosened the pinch bolts all the way, drove a wooden wedge gently into the gap to spread the swingarm open around the stuck hub, squirted some Blaster bolt loosener in there, and after a few hours used the Special Ducati Tool "large flathead and hammer" to rotate the hub back to freedom. Note, this worked much better with the rear wheel off, which was another three minutes of work.

Did a track day since the swap and it was a noticeable difference, even before the anticipated ECU upmap to match this solution.

Good luck, enjoy!

Ordered my 41T rear sprocket....waiting...

Will get a new longer Gold chain in place of the stock one.

Yup, ordered my 41T also, just waiting on my hub to come in this week. Shawn

Great to hear things worked out for the best brother!

The amount of links I suggested for the chain was 110 btw. This way they have enough to cut it down if need be. I also stayed w the 525 and stock front sprocket. Thanks for letting me know it worked out for ya too! :D

I think my chain is actually rubbing a tad, I can see on the links where contact has rubbed some grease away. I imagine it'll wear in and stop rubbing lol. I think it makes contact on the upper guide, but I imagine is fairly normal.
