The most frustrating day!

I have done 6,000 kms and the bike is becoming harder to start very time i ride. I have read the threads and make sure I idle the bike for at least a minute before turning off.

Any thoughts?

Have you tried WOT when turning it over?

Hard starting troubles me too...
I am in US and charcoal canister is still in place..
Sometimes WOT works and sometimes not.
I try to stop the engine after 20-30 secs idling every time still next time when I start it will sometimes hard start.
I even try every crazy stuff from all over forums like opening gas cap to release fuel tank pressure and restart..it works and it does not !!!
Although hard start does not happen always but it sure happens when I do not want it to...
Any advise to even minimize it is welcome !!

I don't get why people insist on removing the charcoal canister when it's obvious this hard start issue still occurs with or without it. It's all in your head. Problem is somewhere else unbeknownst to mankind!

I talked to my dealer a bit ago, and they noted the same. Twist the throttle while turning it over should help in getting it to start up.

Had the same issue. Dealer told me it's because the fuel is boiling. Told me to open the throttle a little push the start button and let go of the throttle. I tried it and worked like a charm.

right, just push the button harder

:D

I tried a bit of throttle and the first time it backfired and a flame came out the exhaust

The 2nd time a big puff of smoke came out from underneath the fuel tank.

Pretty embarrassing!

It happened at the dealers once and they said never to touch the throttle.

I was told also, do not touch the throttle when starting. I was also told to allow the bike to idle for 20-30 seconds before killing the engine when I'm parking her, "not to fly in hot and kill it".. I haven't had any issues yet....

Odd because on my "S" when I had the charcoal canister removed the problem ceased.;)

I gather you're battery charge is okay with all this? Cranks over fine or slows down quickly. Perhaps add a battery tender like a CTEK to the list.

Be careful making statements that you haven't experienced. I too was very skeptical like you are. I was very hesitant of removing my charcoal canister for the first two years of hard starting. I had so many embarrassing moments of hard starting at several high volumes of people around. I finally gave in to the idea. And viola, the problem is no more.

In my experience it was the canister. It costs nothing to experiment the idea...

My point is people experience hard starting issues even without a charcoal canister. Bikes in other countries don't even come with it from the factory and they still have issues.

I used to have the issue quite a bit before my first service. Since then, it has happened once. I haven't removed it and don't intend on removing it either. If every single person complaining about this problem still had theirs on the bike, I'd retract my opinion but as stated above, people still have this problem with the canister removed from the bike. What's your explanation for those individuals? Bad luck?
