Has anyone removed the stock exhaust canister without loosening the header bolts at the engine?

The Arrow exhaust instructions show loosening the rear exhaust manifold bolts to allow the manifold to come up a bit, allowing the exhaust canister to drop down and clear the header pipe, and then you slide out the front canister connection.

Has anyone been able to remove the stock canister without loosening the rear header?

Thanks!

I was able to get it off, but wow, that took a lot of effort. I don't think I could get it to slip back on. Getting the front donut to slip on and fully seat at the angle required for the upper pipe to slip under the header would be extremely difficult. You pretty much have to get the top header out of the way so the front donut can push in straight.

Yes got mine off and it was a big pain on the ass. Fitting new exhaust not as bad but still a pain in the ass.

R u guys removing the evap canister with slipon exhausts?
That thing was nothing but problems on my 1299 w Akra. The Akra instructions call for its removal but not for it to be refitted:

Think you could sand the doughnut a bit down to reinstall
Yes it can be done without loosening the headers.
took mine off couple of days ago to get at the shock tie rods
Advise to get back on?

You will spend less time loosening the header than trying to force the muffler on. It's not that hard with the right extensions and swivel socket.

Thank you what was required to take off/required to get to the header bolts? 6 of them correct ? Thanks for the help too

You’ve reinstalled the stock muffler without loosening the rear headers? I’d like to see a video of that.

In my experience with A LOT of force you can pry the factory muffler off without loosening the rear header. There was no way to put it back on without loosening the rear header.

Well getting off was cake sprayed connections with lubricant spray and let it sit for a while. Getting back on the horizontal header is slightly aim up. So I struggled. I just took my time with a swivel 8mm socket and loosened the headers just enough for the to give me some play to reconnect. I didn't wanna get aggravated anymore so loosening the headers was and easy option haha.

I'll have to see if I can dig up a video where they are being assembled at the factory. I'd think the headers are torqued when the mufflers are installed but the issue is what the rest of the bike looks like.
