Pretty sure on what I'm doing but said what the hell, let's see what the guys say......

So, if you had enough cash for one BST wheel, would you buy the rear and wait till later in the year and get the front or just wait to get both.

if you mean sit on it uninstalled until you have both, then sure.

Personally i'd never spend almost $4K on wheels !! I thoroughlt enjoy the bike as is and ride it as hard as I plan to lol.

My next mod will be adjustable rearsets, mostly because I like my pegs just a little higher and farther back...even on my tippy toes I drag my boots too much lol.

Absolutely, positively, without any doubt, hands down, 110% buy the set together!!!

When you are 100% ready to buy a set PM me and I will make it happen for ya too. No kidding.

I would put the money away and wait to get both. You cant use just one

Hehehe yep that's what I figured. Just wanted to see opinions. Hopefully I'll be able to get a set in a few months.

Gunny, thanks! Defiantly will do!

I WOULDN'T GET THE WHEELS BECAUSE THEN i WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE BRAKES ALSO! CHA-CHING!!!!
But they are very sexy.

I purchased the exact set of wheels in 2010 for my Truimph Speed Triple. (BST manufactured hubs specifically so these would fit my bike.) Anyway, I dropped 15 lbs of rotating mass, which totally transformed the bike. Worth every penny. That said, I am not going to buy them for my 1199 S because the weight difference to the forged wheels will not be anywhere as big. (and thus not worth the $ to me just for the bling.)
But.... if you have the cash to throw around, I'd buy the pair together.
Of note, make sure that you have shops in your area that will mount tires on the wheels before you buy them. Most shops refuse to take the risk of mounting tires on these carbon works of art since the are scared of F#cking it up. As it stands, the only place that will mount rubber on my BST wheels is the local BMW shop, and they will not take responsibility if they screw up. (But they wont; since the mechanics are real pros.)

-- check the weight difference - if it not that great, then save your money

-- mount your own tires :)

I don't like BSTs, but I DO like the idea of mounting my own tires. What would you need at home to do this? This is one of those areas I never tackled since I figured it would never make sense to buy the stuff to do it.

Here's what you need:

I would suggest getting this demount tool tho, better than no-mars.

No-scufftiretool

I bought the nomar around 3-4 years ago when I built my new garage. I've changed dozens of tires on all my bikes and my friends as well. More than paid for itself. Another big benefit is that you don't have the least experienced guy in a bike shop messing with your wheels.

THe really nice thing about the no-mar, NO metal comes in contact with any part of the wheel. No chipping or dinging wheels.

I bought a combo classic pro set which is the best way to get all you need.

I definitely wouldn't go to those shops nor your local BMW (who won't take responsibility) to change my tires on my BST's. Every motorcycle shop around here even the local Ducati shop all have No touch tire Mount/De-mount machines who guarantees their work. Nowdays with the CF, magnesium, aluminum alloy (all soft light material) and custom painted wheels it's a must to have if you are in the motorcycle tire business. They definitely need to upgrade their machines.

i know i am the only one. i thought of buying the back wheel for my panigale s, and only the back wheel.
what i read is that the weightdifference is not the point but the look for me.
matte carbonwheel would be an optical highlight, especialy on the 1199.

but in germany bst carbon is not street leagal and i had to cancel the plan.
