Thought this warranted a new thread to see if other people have or are experiencing this issue. ON a 1299S, when the ignition is switched OFF, the main LEDs in the headlight begin to flicker on and off rapidly but very dimly, at a constant rate, accompanied by an in harmony clicking sound. Once the main relays to the ECU cut power about 45 sec - 1 minute after key off, the noise and flickering ceases. At least two other people on this forum have experienced this, but I would like to know if the issue (if it is one) is more widespread.

My 1299S does the same thing. Hasn't impacted the use of the headlights in any way.

What is the problem?

Ok, I went and checked. On turning off the ignition I get a very quiet clicking sound from the headlamp unit which persists until the timer expires and the main relay becomes de-energised. No flashing of any kind on the LEDs.

It's not a problem. Just wanted to know if it was abnormal behaviour, since most owners don't seem to have come across this.

OK thanks. Seems as if the flickering LEDs is peculiar to a few bikes.

Took that right now, bike with 0miles

Interesting. Looks like your parking LEDs are flashing. On mine it's just the main LEDS (outermost - dipped beam) that are flickering.

Are you saying there is no light at all Razz, as on mine it is barely perceptible but in low light you can just see the main outboard LEDs flickering. They are very dim but you can see a faint light from them. MrBigBiker's case is much more evident' judging by the videos. I spoke to a very reputable Ducati dealer today (BSB team owners) and they have categorically told me this is NOT normal and is not evident on any of the 1299S they had in the showroom or the workshop.

I haven't seen this switch off phenomenon on my 15 1299s, however I have noticed it while riding. I ride with another 1299 regularly and we have a friend who videos the ride. when watching the video playback - I can tell my lights are flickering in intensity at about the same rate shown in the video above. Bright to REAL bright off and on at high frequency. Don't know if there is any correlation to what you've pointed out here. Seemed odd when I first noticed it and it is only noticeable in video - not live in person so I chalked it up to some kind of frame rate interference with my friend's go pro.

No correlation at all. The frame rate of the video camera and the frequency of the LEDs causes that.

Topolino:If anything suspicious I would check it with your delear. My brand new seems alright, but found out during first oil service that headlight has some issue and hopefully will be replaced under warranty.

Was just informed by my local Ducati dealer that my case was well received in Italy and there is nothing to be worried about. WTF really?
They are trying to say that my headlight behavior is quite common but taking into consideration that it is a new machine and it doesn't happen to other Panigales it becomes quite suspicious.

If it were common, I am sure more people would have commented on it. As it stands it seems it only affects a handful of bikes, to me that smacks of an issue.

If the lights work in the intended manor when the bike is being ridden, how can some faint flashing as the bike powers down be considered to be an issue? It's not stopping the lights from doing the job for which they were intended. If it was me, I would just note the symptoms and continue to ride the bike until such times as the light unit in some way stops doing its job.

Make sense but what you gonna do when (due to abnormal present headlight behavior) the warranty will be expired and light will stop working? If there is any suspicious I would prefer to have it replaced in 30k $ bike, especially that there is nothing mentioned in the manual...
