Heat , insane heat.

If you search "heat" on this forum, this topic has been discussed since the very beginning of the 1199.

Wrapping headers, carbon covers, larger heat shields, fueling, exhausts (without cats), spacers on the upper inner leg area.

Bottom line of discussion was already then: everyone perceives the heat differently. Hope you find a fix!

i have found that the clothing i wear has a lot to do with how much heat i can withstand. check into that.

I was out today in Cape Town temp about 26c cool day for our mid summer I found the 1299 on the open road at about 160- 200 Km's per hour fine, in traffic on warm days it's a bit warm I wear jeans and Cat boots nothing special periodically open my legs when moving faster than 60 to get some air, my concern is where do you guys ride these things with enthusiasm? Because I could not even open it up and I was hitting 235 in some places , in South Africa you go to jail for that, (our jails are ok, because it's only speedsters and people who do not pay their TV licence in jail) murder and .... are not crimes in SA, speeding is as bad as treason

Move to England, you won't be complaing about the heat, but grateful of it !!! My 1198 used to cook my arse in the centre of town, I think it was good preparation for panigale ownership. Seriously in the centre of town on a hot day with the engine at 105 deg C and fan running, you will get heat soak ,and all the band aids talked about will have no effect, the only way to reduce the ambient heat in the area of your thigh is more air flow. So the answer is don't spend too much time in stop start traffic, but you know with the power of these modern bikes comes heat !!

I only notice it when I ride in shorts and flip flops, and then I just speed up,instant heat dispersion.

I am justttttt about on my last post about the ....... "heat hurts" topic. Jesus, this is the most asked and answered topic on the entire board. This is like going to a Ford Raptor board and saying "will 37's fit ?""¦Insert insane flaming.

So Veteran, I can sum it up"¦"Jet Hot pipes, Carbon cover" done.

On a side note"¦.Captain Greg, what the .... is a "TV License" and how do people go to JAIL for it ??

NOLA

To the rest of of you thanks for the constructive replies. Will be giving this some further consideration.

This is always fun.

The bike gets hot and I do not think there is a cure. Put up with it or sell it.

Oh there is one cure. After I fitted my Akra system I did a ride with no lower fairings and then checked the bolts after.

The bike ran about 15 deg C cooler on that ride. Big difference. So easy fix. Take your lower fairings off. You can get a bit of a rat look going too :D

In the UK you have to buy a "licence" for your TV....the money goes to the BBC and the government...

When I was a kid they had detector vans that could go around and could tell if you were watching TV.

No licence.....will have been a fine, but I guess with enough occurrences you could have been sent to jail....however there are TV's in jails so you could watch it for free then

The van was just a ploy to get you to pay.
They couldn't detect .... all, they just had a list of addresses without a valid license against them.
It was a technique to get the masses to believe they had the capability.

small minds, small solutions ;)

There is no ONE solution, but if you do everything that people have tried, and do ALL of them, I guarantee you that it'll make the bike no hotter than any other superbike.

Stock, the metal heatshield gets very hot, then starts to radiate away that heat. Order the heatshield for the '15 Pani R, and you'll save 2+lbs. And it runs cooler.

My rear header is wrapped with Pyrogel 3350 - a NASA insulation used in satellites. I have standard heat wrap layered over that. I'll add a ceramic coating sometime this winter.

heat reflective tape all over the inside of the subframe and under the seat. that helps. carbon subframe covers help insulate as well.

Most of these made just small changes. But they sure did add up to substantially reduce seat temps.

Yeah keep telling yourself it runs cooler and I am sure you will believe it. You may even make some others believe it.

The heat has to go somewhere. I'd rather have it radiate out past my legs than stay in the bike. All these solutions do is redirect the heat somewhere else.

I made a similar comment in a different thread on this subject. None of these things alter the amount of heat produced by the engine. They just trap it in, or possibly redirect it.
