Heat issue, overblown

Yep I came off an rsv4, the heat coming out on the right thigh is pretty incredible on that bike.

I commute daily. Very low speed, 30mph roads, only about 20 minutes or so. I wear jeans. Never been a problem. And honestly, while I feel the heat, it has never been in a painful way, jeans or mesh/leathers. I'm coming from an RSV4-R and it got pretty hot too, just not under the seat in particular. Only had it a few weeks. Longest ride was maybe a few hours in mountains, still not any significant problem. (now the jerkiness at low speeds comnpared to my very smooth RSV4 IS a problem to me, but a different matter)

I've done more miles on the Panigale than anyone (other than perhaps factory riders wearing leathers on test tracks)--in all temps and all road conditions (except snow). I'm not trying to be a arrogant about it, but anyone who says the Panigale doesn't get hot either doesn't ride very much, wears clothing that insulates skin better than street clothes or has hippo hide for skin. It's not debatable. Painful heat is one of the options that comes standard on the 1199.

There are two things solve the problem:

1) Standing up on the pegs
2) Wrapping the header under the seat

Obviously number 1 isn't a viable solution in all circumstances, but does offer instant relief (plus is a good quad workout). And if you do find yourself repeatedly doing 3 or 4 (or 10) hours on the bike (or 20 min. at 35mph in 105 degree heat), option number two is simple, inexpensive and effective.

To me the heat is bad.
I just got a full system on a month or so ago.
Before the full system it was hot but not any more so then my 848.
Now with the full system my right foot on the heel got so hot I got a nasty blister the size of a nickle on it after and hour and a half ride.
Antihero I have thought of you several times when I'm riding thinking "how in the hell is he riding across the country and not frying his foot!!"

There are a lot of new Ducati owners now because of the 99, and I think some of this is new Ducati owners. But I do wonder if there is not some inconsistency in the build, the model or riding style that makes the heat different for one bike over the next. Regional climate doesn't seem to be a consistent factor. Hmmmm.

I do not have any issues with the heat, way cooler than my most of the ducatis I've had, other than my Monsters, some people really seem to have real issues with the heat, makes me wonder if something is afoot.

i have stated this in one of my threads about a 200 mile plus ride that this is the case. Totally overblown. It does get hot if you wear shorts after a while. I added the carbon fiber ducati clutch cover and now shorts aren't even an issue.

I agree that there's a lot of fuss about the heat but everyone has different tolerances. However I'm curious about your comment on the clutch cover - does it really make a difference or were you referring to another carbon part?

Mark: second degree burns wearing full gear is not "overblown."

I had my headers ceramic coated in and out and it made a very noticeable difference. It's still hot, but below burn temperatures.

If you haven't experienced this as noted above there may be other variables...each bike might have some difference that accounts for it.

But riding in leathers and getting painful blisters is not overblown drama, it's a problem many have encountered.

Perhaps there are to sides of this story. Ignoring different sizes and shaps of people which may have an impact, i beleiver there is a heat issue when stuck in traffic. There is no heat issue when moving.

Mark, I too have done 200 mile journeys, on the move and without issue. I have also sat in a traffic jam for 10 minutes and the bike temp has climbed to 106 centigrade and believe me, in leathers, there is a heat issue.

Has anyone run the bike without the heat shield. I think it might look quite nice with the whole tube exposed but guessing the heat will increase. At the moment it doesn't really bother me but most of my riding is weekend blasts.

I remember reading on here that someone had removed the shield only to find, as you suspected, that the heat increased. It appears that while the stock shield does get heat soaked, it does redirect air under the seat away from the rider.

That sounds very strange. Have you had the bike checked out.

Delta One rides in a very hot country, I ride in >37degC ever since I had the bike and nothing unusual?

Gotta be some other variables in play.

BTW, I wear Dainese Kevlar jeans.

Yeah, these varying accounts are too wide to just be preference. Can't possibly just be that the same heat burns some and doesn't even bother others. Do a degree sure, but not this level. I have Tri, and while I notice the heat I have not felt pain (race seat only mod). That is in leather/mesh pants and jeans, stuck in traffic, hot weather (and actually at around 40 putting around seems to be heat build up). But nothing that I can't live with, maybe enough to look into coating. But with these different experiences, I'd think has to be a different in builds, maybe mapping, butterfly valve acting different and causing more heat, who knows. But a blister, I'd think no matter how hot, hard or long you are riding, is unacceptable, particulary with this kind of price tag.
