Which pants or jeans (or whatever) to battle the 1299 heat?

To the OP, same happened to me on my first test ride. I had vented kit and the heat sterilized my nuts ! I also turned back and returned bike.
A month or two later I rode in my laguna seca Dainese racing suit.
It was still horribly hot. Not as bad, but not pleasant.

I gotta say I am pissed at Ducati for not making a plan about heat.

I have other twins in the stable, (1290 superduke, 1290 adv, 1198) and none of them are even remotely uncomfortable in the heat arena. My other bikes which are inline 4s and Vs are not hot either.
Let me rephrase, all produce heat but it’s not uncomfortable and barely noticeable.

So all this BS that a twin is hot is just not reasonable.
Ducati just didn’t feel they had to worry about it.

I wonder how many sales they lost, and how many people sold because of the heat?
I know of several people that got rid of them because of it.

That's somewhat disappointing. I too am finally getting around to heat mitigation and the problem is twofold.

Roasted nuts - heat from the engine vents up between the tank and seat. Block that gap and I'm betting the roasted nuts go away.

Thigh heat- when gripping the tank the subframe get really hot, and a pocket of air flows directly at you thighs. Open your legs an let air in between your knees and the bike and the hair dryer turns off. So if you can figure out a way to get airflow past the inside of your knees while you are gripping the tank, the thighs will appreciate the effort.

I added CF over the subframe, which solved the hot subframe issue, but it only made me hotter as now I can grip the tank with my knees non stop, I get the roasted nuts and hair dryer thighs non stop.

So who knows, I'm going to block the heat rising between the seat and tank. If that actually works I can deal with thigh heat, I think.

I was wrong.

Roasted nuts is not solely from the gap between the seat and tank. The tank actually gets really hot. The rear cylinder heats the subframe AND the tank. Everything behind the the air box is heated by the rear cylinder. The tank gets really hot, and hot air does escape between the seat and tank because it's a poor design. The rear cylinder is supposed to vent through the holes in the subframe, but your knees block the airflow, and instead of the heat blowing out I think it just swirls and hits the back of the legs. Open your legs and bam! Fresh air pulls the hot air away from you.

It's a really poor design that could have easily fixed.

I decided to put on my super think bmw riding jeans and although it took a little bit longer to get over heated, the result was the same. When the bike gets heat soaked, it vents really hot air on the back of my thighs, the tank and subframe are 120 - 150 degrees, and it's just not comfortable bike to ride.

Yeah spread your legs a bit more often,
Something I’ve been known to say.
