Heat

Oddly, both of my dogs are incredibly interested in my coated pipes.

I found them both licking the pieces and more than a little disturbed when I took them away.

Some sort of galvanic response? Dunno, since the coating is non-ferrous.

Anyway, they've now been spit-shined too...

DOH!

Lol....Must have been a header day as i just got mine back today as well and I must say they are going to look very nice on the bike done in Satin Black

You can see the internal ceramic coating in the pics. This is what makes them heat resistant and therefore the lower the temp the less heat friction making for a better gas flow, which will give you better HP.

I will put these on at the first service, so I can judge for myself what benifits they have as in less heat and a smoother running engine.

The Pics

Very Nooooiice.... :D

How much did it set you back? and how long did it take?

You sure it wasnt some sort of pelvic response:eek:

Might get a coating that you hadnt planned on if they are males:D

yeah I think so to...they do look awesome in the flesh.

They cost about 275 plus frieght.....Not sure when the shop sent them up.
Ill ask next time we chat and let you know.

The ceramic coated pipes looks great fellas! I finally wrapped my upper pipe with titanium wrap. With just the wrap alone and no heat shield, the heat was worse than unwrapped with the heat shield on. Once I put the heatshield on with the upper header wrapped, the heat was waaaaay better. I'ts been pretty hot out in my neck of the woods lately and I putted through traffic a few times and yes, it was still a little warm, but nowhere near uncomfortable at all. I'm much happier now with the "heat" issue. I can't wait to see some pics of the ceramic coated pipes fitted and get some results back to see how much better the heat issue is after install.

WARNING:

Check the housing for the cooling fan for melting. It's located at the bottom of the bike forward of the oil sump and just aft of the lower radiator in a black housing.

When pulling parts off to fit the full Termis pipes the tech and I noticed a good bit of melting had taken place on the top right portion of the cooling fan housing. We inspected two other Panigales there for their first service and both of them also had signs of melting.

The shop took photos and are going to contact DNA about it. Melted Cooling Fan Housing - Ducati 1199

Since I was pulling the stock exhaust off and no longer had a need for the exhaust valve or its actuator which has a pretty decent reflective heat barrier glued to it; I pulled that barrier of the actuator motor housing and attached it to the cooling fan housing right over the melted area.

I can imaging over time this housing melting completely through and possible damaging the fan itself since the plastic would have dripped directly onto the fan blades. Worse yet, it could get sufficiently hot to actually ignite - and we don't need any more Flamigales on the roads.

Just a word of caution - will let you know what DNA has to say. The dealer ordered a warranty replacement of the fan and housing for me. Though mine was not melted entirely through - it was not far from it.

Try Bicycle Shorts

I had some heat coming up and decided to buy some bicycle riding shorts to wear under my jeans. That has eliminated the problem for me.

same with me. got the pics in the exhaust wrap thread. love it ever since.
still gets quite hot, but hey, it's not electric powered and combustion energy still has a huge part of heat in the energy equation ;)

Exactly what I did. Though I think I still want to solve the issue. Riding into work and having to change kind of sucks.

Today it was 100to degrees in Virginia and u ride 220it miles in full gear. Only time it got over 215mph on dash was sitting in stopped traffic....

I thought the Panigale was limited to 186 mph like all other US sport bikes when all I had to do to break 200 was sit in traffic ;)
