hi all new to this forum. and i need help. my story..... i had a yellow 748sp back in the day that got stolen [sob] then got rsv 1000 followed by an mv f4 which i still have. thing is i never got over my 748sp with terms its the soundtrack that haunts me. though the mv flattered my eyes more, at least in my opinion.[vs 998] i rode less and less till no more so for last 5 years it just gathered dust in the garage. and my interest in bikes completely fanned out. Until one day in town outside a coffee shop a 848 evo corse thundered up i then understood what had been missing in my now dull boring life. so i ran up to my local dealers to buy one.had a demo ride holy shiiii butttt i then saw an mv f3 oh lord help me it looked so amazeing. i had a demo on that too but it left me feeling a little underpowered to the duc and the soundtrack blips whernt right [by that i mean short 2stroke style eeeh eeeh,s]. i had dent rode a bike for years and both these would leave my mv for dead. so i returned home leaving dealers sad face without remorse to do some research, as i knew nothing about triples or any bike for last 7 years. after getting clued up i called dealer back went to do the deal and while sitting at the desk papers in hand i saw IT.... the sourse of my much troubled hart yep 1199 tri....... but I'm not as well healed as some here and 1100 ukp was my absolute budget. so yes i left that shop again after agreeing a deal, knowing i had to get one. but how, I'm into hip hop but not the lifestyle, though this bike had me continplateing. i did the next best thing, classifieds section. and to my astonishment i saw a 1199 abs 1400 miles with full termis carbon galore + original parts i phoned up immediately and arfter making sure of it not being crashed or raced, paid up straight away. so now i have to wait 3 weeks for it to arrive, and i don't know what to do with myself. I've read all the reports tests forums 5 times over and i still have 2 weeks to go. I've only seen photos of my bike as its way to far for me to see i haven't even had a demo on one as i aint got the guts to go back and tell all this to the duc dealer I've let down 2 times already. [see how karma can bite] and he's the only close one to me. which I'm sure is going to make for an embarrassing 1st service. so what i need is info on the bike in town conditions all the reports are the same so if theres any little positive thing you've experienced on your bike that aint been said before please post cos i need ducatisti food badly. and also anyone know of a test done with a remapped bike from what I've read so far it seems to be the real game changer and all these abi dabby reports where on the fist map. thanks for reading this rant my ducatisti bros please post info and help me survive next two weeks

i put 4,500 miles on mine so far, and the grind on my face never goes away, it rev like no other twins, i no longer wear ear plug on short ride, just to hear that ballistic soundtrack. it carve corners better than most 600s (maybe all), and would vanish anything on the straights (ok, maybe with the exception of the S1kRR and the ZX14), but by no mean it's easy to ride, it's still a handful and demand your respect with full concentration.

also try this when you got the bike: after along day of riding (my trip is typically 250-430 miles/day), you are cruising home at 80 mph on 6th gear, the bike just purr along, now do this: lie on the bike, press your chest against the tank, you will feel every strong purse from the bike's heart, trust me, it's a magical feeling, the beats are so clear, so eager that it makes you feel bad for not wringing it out and let it stretch it's legs...so with the sore lower back and battered wrist, i sit up, tuck in, tighten my line and give it what its asking for :D

I've only seen photos of my bike as its way to far for me to see

Wow......that was so difficult to read I'm not even sure what it said.

Welcome to the forums, but maybe use some paragraphs and more sorted thoughts so we can better understand you?

thanks for replys Ive never used any forum before but my love of this bike made me join this one my first. yes I'm all excited and very frustrated all at the same time and rafter reading back my post i agree i was ranting a fair bit but who can blame me I'm sure all off you have been though this. ha ha. i will try the beating hart thing on my very first ride and that was exactly the kind of info i needed to hear so thank you for that. any how I'm a bit confused how to post photo I've just dragged and dropped one into this post box thing so hope it works keep storys coming

i had the rear linkage set on F, its firm, maybe too firm on rough road, but the feet back is very good, and the rear is very planted, you should try both to see which set up you like better

Jim Reeves sang "welcome to my world" and i know and can relate to exactly what your going through and feeling. All i can say flashman is you have made a very cool and life changing choice. You are going to love your new bike. It will have an effect on you like no other,i .... you not. Welcome to the forum hombre and where you at/live?

Welcome to the forum

You will enjoy this bike, it really is like no other bike on the road. I have just about rode every sports bike/super bike out out there and I will honestly say that this is the best bike ever. Sure the S1KRR is a great bike and so is the Aprillia but both do not and I emphasize "do not" handle like the Pani. In fact once you get the suspension setup done its like riding a 600 on steroids. The BMW rear wheel feels really planted and it took a while for me to get my rear suspension on Pani to feel that way (I miss my old suspension set up guy who moved to northern California) but now it's really a dream bike. I'm an old school rider who was not into ABS, traction control and slipper clutch, engine braking but the more I ride the Pani I've become a true believer in them except for the ABS because I elected not to get it only because I couldn't get use to it on the demo bike. I've gotten so use to the electronics now and it has really improved my lap times and confidence through the canyons. At 7.5k RPM it feels like someone hit the NOS switch and hold the .... on! It reminds me of a friends 1999 Hayabusa (unrestricted) with NOS. The bike really talks back to you and provides excellent feed back. The one thing I wish I had was the 1199 R swing arm adjustment. I thought of that idea when I was trying to setup my suspension and low and behold Ducati comes out with it on the R model. That rear end will definitely get planted. But with the Ohlins MK II you can definitely get the base/s planted.

hi thanks for replys guys im in london uk. well great news for me, bike is coming on mon yippee.... my wife is all suspicious cos all of a sudden i don't want any quality time, [ha she thinks i want to ride another girl]. so I've asked dealer to put the sus link on p so thats taken care of, then ill do up map once I've ridden it a few times though its already got full termis on, seems a bit safer to get used to it first as this is without doubt the most powerful bike I've tried. sus setup ill do in summer once my bank manager starts smiling at me again and i don't know anything about swingarm mod [1199r]. but ill start looking into it now. so can anyone tell me if theres anything else i can get the dealer to do\check\update before they deliver. and keep storys coming please.thanks guys

this is what i do: i book and appt for 2 hr with the Master mechanic, and ask him to go through the entire bike bike to inspec/check/tighten everything, you will be amazed/scared of what you find!!!

the june one was mine, and i made the worst mistake: traded my previous bike in

hi guys thanks again for your replies. ok I'm not as strong as those of you that waited so long for your [especially new] bikes. i caved in to the dealer and payed an extra 250 gbp to get it on fri. they said they would do all the cheaking over so i wouldn't need to but ill still book it in with a top ducati dealer to get the once over. Ive already ordered a roof desmo helmet, though ill have a problem with my leathers. you see when i got my first duc. [a yellow 748 sp] i used to go to a place called casoli moto run by a guy called dave. after 5-8 months of persistent trying and i mean persistent i got him to sell me for an extortionate price. an official wsb factory ducati racing leathers worn and crashed by paulo gasoli [carl fogartys supersport partner] at donninton which he had hanging on display on the wall of his shop. naturally there yellow so that won't do. maybe for the right offer id sell them on....... so need to find some hot looking leathers. and the best rear tyre for british winter [yep rain] and lots of it ha think thats wye they call this land blighty.
