Hey all,

Just wondering if there are any people on the waiting list here in Thailand for their 1199? I'm just about to put a deposit down and hopefully receive mine in July or Aug. Initially was rather hesitant due to the 100% import tax, but its just so sexy couldn't resist!

This will be my first Ducati ever and what a time to join the family!

If I'm currently riding a 250cc honda and in everyone's opinion would it be too big of a jump you think to a full 1199? I plan on renting a 600cc for a month to get used to the power difference a bit and plan on riding my 1199 s in rain mode initially until I get used to the power difference. I've been riding for the past year if that info helps a bit. Even so, I could always just keep my 1199 S inside my house and show it off as art until later right? :D

On another note, at least I'll be able to get plenty of riding in all year around since the temperature never drops below 20°C or 70°F

Thats a serious power hike from a 250. You would are wise to transition through a 600 on route to the panagale. A 600 will be much less forgiving than your 250 and will surely help prepare you for what will feel like panagale warp speed! Ultimately you need to build experince. Do you have any track time? if not, try to get yourself on track with a 600 or the Panagale and an instructor. This will enable you to explore the bike in a safer and more controlled environment.

Take it easy and enjoy the new bike.

Always remember that the bike is as fast as your right wrist :) Just don't man handle it. Easy does it!

Thanks for the advice and tips, PaddockStand!

Unfortunately I do not have any track time on a bike, but have a fair amount of track day experience with my car, although I know it doesn't quite translate over.

Already planning a 3 days course track day in the next couple weeks with an instructor and will continue it each month till my precious arrives!

One of my other concerns is the seat height of the Ducati 1199 as it is 32.5in and I'm only 5'7 125lbs or 57kg with an inseam of 31.5in, guess I'll be slightly leaning over a bit at stop lights.

power is not the issue,
the Panigale will be my second bike (and this is my second riding season)
my first bike was a 10' CBR1000RR, and i enjoyed the whole 6000 miles of it last season.
progressive maneuver and respecting the power is the key. learn the bike slowly and you are fine.
enjoy the bike
