Welcome Retics!
Nothing wrong with the RSV4 - another fine Italian machine. However, I am a Ducatista at heart and think you couldn't pick a better bike to join our ranks.
Just curious, how is the Aprilia dealer support in Canada? I've heard horror stories from a few friends here in the UK and was curious if this is universal or restricted to our area.
Welcome to the forum.
I currently have a 2010 Aprilia RSV4-Factory and as you can see from some of my posts, I am absolutely not a fan of the bike (due to myriad of issues, besides which it could have been a good bike), the ridiculous dealership support and the absolute worst company that I have ever dealt with. i.e., Piaggio/Aprilia.
Well I can't say the bike is perfect,, I had my share of problems.
The first day I dad it I was riding around and had so much pressure build up in the tank that when I opened the fuel cap I thought the key was gonna get blown out of my hand,,, I actually sank in my seat once the pressure was released . Most people have removed the evap canister and it helps, Aprilia has since recalled the bike for a new valve under the tank.
Day 2: I just fuelled up with Shell premium as it doesn't contain ethanol , (warps tank ) and I pulled out on the main drag and started hauling ass, I stopped for a light and black an blue smoke surrounded me, as I thought WTf,, is there a Prius behind me? I looked down and flames were shooting out of the exhaust and I blew the light polled over an shut the bike off,, The injectors stuck full open and drained the full tank in under a minute, choking out the engine and the rest of the fuel poured up an through the air box all over the hot headers,, I thought it would have burned to the ground for sure but it all smouldered away.
I called the tow truck an had them take it back to the dealer , 180km on the bike at that time,,bout 110 miles?
I lost it,, said I wanted a refund an they flat refused. It was a month in the shop being repaired but the dealership was helpful and was looking into the issue from Piaggio .
I told them if I had anymore problems I was going through my insurance and let them deal with it as the bike . I didnt want anymore BS, so I had all the injectors replaced and now waiting on a new enjoin map for better fuel an throttle response, I was told update to the 2012 map an it would run better, Sometimes it doesn't like t start when hot.
So injectors, new map and fuel valve . and have 4100km/2547mles on the bike.
I really like it. That engine roars like the Desmo. I'm not sure if I want to keep it after warranty is up tho haha.
