Highly modified V4S versus KTM RC 8C

Yeah I do like that livery better than mine, but that’s literally the only change to the bike. Moot to me because the same people that made the tank/seat for the Ducati also make the only set of aftermarket track fairings for the RC 8C, so I’m getting those and doing a different livery anyway.

The Facebook forum for the RCC owners has a small percentage of owners, annoyed that they keep producing more bikes, and calling them limited edition. Personally, I don’t care, because I didn’t buy the bike because it was limited addition, or for resale value, I bought it to be a purpose built track weapon and learning aid, is that whether there are 100 or 500 of them.

As an aside RoadRacerX had his 8C RC at Chuckawallah yesterday and sent me his data from a 1:52 lap…on a 135 hp bike 😂😂😂
who did you find for the fairings for the rc8c?
I only found 1 - radegarage.com and I don't see a tail unit on their site for the v4.

Haha, yeah. I wanna see if KTM can reset the timers that log engine hours on mine. Brand new complete engine gets dropped in this week. $9k

We learned some cool stuff while having the RC 8C apart. My shop, that has been building race bikes for over a decade said the heads and the machining on the heads of the RC 8C are the nicest heads they’ve ever seen. All CNC port matched and milled with very high spec parts. Also the pistons and rods are crazy in that engine. Each rod is $2500 Ti rod and each piston is $2100.

On the downside, they put just the standard factory clutch that goes into every 890 engine that KTM produces…so while we have it apart I bought a Suter Clutch to put in it.
you should upgrade the ecu to mectronic...much nicer than the ecu in the KTM.

does the RC8C have the AIM dash? If yes, you can reset the 4 counters individually. I have 1 set to bike mileage, 2 set to motor lifetime mileage, 3 set to motor major rebuild (top and bottom) mileage and 4 set to motor minor service (inspection and top end rebuild).

Yes it has the AIM dash. Good tips. If I can I’ll reset the motor hours to the new motor, but leave the mileage as chassis mileage, so if I ever sell it the owner knows what they are getting.

I looked into the Mectronic ECU but they are currently out of stock on the ECU/Loom kit, and say they probably won’t be in stock anytime soon. They’re currently prepping all the bikes for the 350 cc class in MotoAmerica that they supply, and are pretty busy with that until the race series starts.

The ECU upgrade is worth it. I upgraded my 2020 GP2-R to the RR spec engine and electronics and the difference is night and day.

I've noticed that Kramer tends to take on new projects before the old projects are fully done and spares stocked up...
