Thanks for the update. I hate to hear that he's still unconscious. As you say, hopefully it is because of a medically induced need for faster healing, but sometimes that's because there has been pressure on the brain and reduce potential damage.
If it is indeed head trauma from the accident, he likely won't even remember the incident.

Art is awake. He is breathing on his own now.
Cant talk yet but is trying i guess. Has a trachea in Looks like he is gonna make it. They didn't expect him too. Very serious crash. Would have killed most people. Hes one strong guy. Injuries were very serious.
Hopefully in a few weeks we will hear from him. He is probably pretty doped up right now.
He has a fund setup for doctor bills. You can find his sister on facebook. Megan zimmerly. She is handling it.
First two days were 250 grand. Probably half a million before its over with.

Even with insurance you are often responsible for a certain %. They have limits they will pay out for each thing, it is always less than what they actually cost. My son was in Children's National for a week not long ago, we have excellent insurance and still received a large bill.

that is unfortunate re: your son's bill. hope your son is doing well now and healthy.... yes health care billing is frightening here as is ObummerCare etc...
my close friend is dealing with some horrible insurance games; they basically don't want to cover a life or death procedure and are trying to weasel out...
from the numbers cited, it appears that Art may not have any kind of insurance tho.....

Being sick in the US is a love hate thing it's really ....... expensive, (even more so if it is a prolonged serious illness), but is probably still the best health care on the planet, though the Germans have it right as well.

Thanks for the update Stan. Wow does that suck for Art, glad he is alive but man he is messed up from the sound of it. Based on most policies, he's likely responsible for at least 20% of the total med costs, so $100,000 is a big nut. Not to be a ...., but sounds like he still lived at home and clearly stated how wealthy his father is. Setting up a fund to help with medical bills takes donations away from others that are less fortunate and may have less ability to stay afloat. I recall Art saying how his father was teaching him lessons about the value of money and so forth, but if he doesn't help out with his medical bills then that would be just F'd up beyond belief.
MrKO, I hope your son is doing better. We had medical issues with my son when he was very young, and frankly the cost of his care didn't mean .... to me. When your baby has a serious medical issue, you will give ANYTHING for them to be better.
