Horn and Signal Issues

If you refrain from making changes to the engine setup (using the up or down selection switches) post engine startup you will not run into the problem. The dealer thinks I'm nuts but since I found a work around I have not had a single signal or horn failure. The use of the up button at any time while riding will trigger the problem.

When I went to the dealer here in AZ to get service performed they said they had yet to actually 'experience' the problem. Just reports from customers. I took their demo panigale and showed the saleman. Voila, here ya go. Now you have seen it.

It's all related to the up button guys.

Hey RM4TWO Im one of the Phoenix Guys with the same problem. Im going to let GoAZ order my ECU and then drop it off for repair later next week.. Im just glad somebody figured out what the fix would be. Its been driving me crazy every time I ride.
I figured it was you getting one. I'm be giving them a call in a few to see if I can get mine ordered up.

efna and I have been experimenting with different theories and possible workarounds. The above does work 90% of the time, but I have experienced the problem without thumbing either arrow button post start-up.
That's ridiculous... you shouldn't have to "pressure" them to repair the problem. It's a known problem that is quite common. There is a COMPETELY new dash ECU part number than the first delivered Panigales had installed.

I had mine swapped a few months ago and the problem is fixed.
I agree, but dealers play stupid when they can't recreate the problem and of course they couldn't with my bike. Per the Dealer (spoke with a service rep a few mins ago) Ducati NA hasn't issued a service bulletin or anything yet so they're (my dealer) handling it on a case by case basis. However, you would think that dealerships would communicate with each other? At any rate, I believe Efna was able to get it to fail in front of them and there are other cases here in the valley so hopefully that's good enough? I'm going to stop by tomorrow and see if I can get it ordered up.

OK, so one of the most electronically-enhanced bikes in the world doesn't even have a reliable horn and/or turn signals? That CAN'T be good!

Had this prob too on my bike, seems like a higher temp will cause this prob surface....still not understanding what is the real prob.

is abit dissapointing, for even the bare basic of turn signals/horn has such a prob on such a "$$$" bike....is not rocket science requirement....

Electrical + Italian = AFU!

Sad but true.

#1 button failure

Has anyone had their top (#1) button stop working? Mine stopped working at the track last weekend. This was the first time the top button failed (which it was down all day), but it started working the next day. It didn't matter if I turned off and on the key. I think it may be related to operating above 200F for an extended time. Has anyone else experienced this problem and what was the fix?

Yea, one of the times I initially brought the bike in for this problem, the dealer found my analog dip-switch garage door opener in the tail section of the bike and then told me they believe having my "Jurassic Park" era garage door opener near the tail of the bike is what caused the electonics to go hay wire.

That was a real laugh when they sprung that one on me.

My bike is now fixed with the replacement of the new dash.
That said, with the new dash come a reading of zero miles on the odometer and thus at 621, my new idiot lights will come on telling me I need to have the first service and oil change again (not). Anyway, if you are having this issue then take the bike in for it to be fixed under warranty.

I love it. Garage Door opener is the cause of the problem. Of course, the fact that there is nothing in the tail section of the bike except for the wires leading to the tail light unit makes it all the funnier. I'd find a new dealer. This one you are going to doesn't seem to have a clue.

By the way, I have a remote switch for my garage door unit and the actual circuit board for the remote is mounted right next to the CPU on the left side under the panel. Kind of blows their theory out of the water.

I'm waiting for a dealer to blame it on sun spots.:D

Correct. I showed them on their demo bike too.

I had my dash replaced yesterday and rode 300+ miles today...so far so good...signals/switches/horn worked all day...but bike never got too hot.

I took my bike for the first service, and after the work was completed, the right turn signal and top button were not working. I immediately returned to the shop to show them. They didn't know what to do but said they have seen this before on a previous Panigale.
The service manager said he would call the Ducati rep and let me know when to take it back. I have not heard from them, but everything started working again by itself on my way home. I didn't have to turn off/on.

Have to chime in and state that first: I never change the engine settings with the buttons; just leave it in sport mode. (except at track where it's in full race mode) Have had the right directional issue at temps above 200 and the horn is irregularly irregular....no rhyme or reason with the horn.

Hate to bring the bike in for something this trivial...last time it was held hostage for 2weeks!!

The fix will be to replace your dash. Biggest downside is that your odometer will be reset to zero...which is a bit of a pain in the ass because your service lights will no longer be accurate. I've done 800 miles since replacing my dash and so far no issues with the turn signals or switches.

Me too ...

Gotta get my oar in the water here to advise that I had the right directional/top button malfunction today. Soon after beginning the ride, I noticed that the right directional didn't work. Later, when I stopped to refuel, I couldn't cycle through the various odometers with the top button to reset mileage. All other systems were functioning properly. After I returned home and the bike had been shut down for awhile, I went back out to the garage, turned on the key, ... and everything worked normally.
