Horn and Signal Issues

Been pretty warm here in Atlanta the past few days (hot and muggy). Yesterday experienced the RH turn signal failure while running some errands around town. Turned it off and let it sit for a couple minutes and cleared up. Got about a mile down the road and went to signal -- nothing. Pulled over, turned off everything, sat for a minute or two and fired it up. Worked. A mile or so down the road, failed again. Repeated this several more times yesterday. And then again today.
Annoying. Calling my dealer in a few minutes.

it's progressive, will get worse and eventually none of the controls on the left hand switch gear will work when bike is hot. THe other telltale, left turn indicator won't turn off no matter what you do. Emailed the duc document to you.

although it is easy to reproduce, there should be no need to demonstrate to your dealer prior to ordering the part. if you got the problem, you know it....and they'll know it, too.

just got the issue last week.
Definitely related to heat.

My dealer never herd of the issue; first 1199 they said to see with it.
He said they have to order a harness after talking to a Ducati rep.

What is it exactly people are getting replaced?
The head unit? (dash) ?
or the head units ecu? which is separate from the bikes ecu?

im guessing this "harness" won't work.

Panigale has 5 ecu's. 1 is in the speedo(dash) so the dash unit gets replaced which resets the mileage but your .... will work right after.

Tsb 881- wire harness lengthened...not a dash replacment.

+1

Had this done 2 weeks ago and permanently solved the same problems described that I was experiencing. No new dash needed. That was a guess by some techs to fit this problem before the factory issued this TSB to properly address it.

just had this done too, at ducati's expense, no charge to me. The part (wire harness) is less than $10 and takes 30 minutes to install. Rode the bike yesterday in 80+ degree heat, no issues so far.

Same here, had wire harness replaced and has solved problem. Was told there was a service bulitin recently on the issue from Ducati.

Just took mine in to have done. Told Service manager about the recall and he checked the Ducati web site on all recalls and it was not there. Came to this site and found the 881 and printed. All he could do was shake his head and order the part. Could not understand why it did not show up on Ducati site.

Having 881 and leaking seal on right front fork fixed. Other than that no problems since owning for over a year.

More evidence that all dealers are not equal. My dealer's service manager is new to the job but even he found it after I told him what I found on here. It is in the Ducati service network for sure. How much digging has to be done by the service department to find it, I don't know. Definitely covered by warranty/recall, no out of pocket for the owner.

I don't know if this has anything to do with the Ducati web site but it isn't a recall. Checking for wiring harnass recalls (and there have been several recalls on this bike) and the expected outcome is to find zero.

This is not (yet) a recall. If checking for tsb, should have found it I guess.
