No worries...the sub frame is bolted to the rear cylinder and its no wonder it gets very hot. I also wear protective jeans no matter how hot the weather is; road rash is no fun.

I wish I could fix the blow dryer type heat issue in this bike, but I do not think it's possible. Anything above 80 degrees and I think twice before I ride.
The carbon fiber subframe covers are an absolutely must. Prior to getting them the subframe was too hot to grip the tank with my legs.
I think heat comes off the rear cylinder and heats the seat and subframe. That heat has nowhere to go and bleeds through areas around the legs. I think if there where two exhaust vents in the bottom on the rear cowl that might help. Who knows, when I get the chance I will test this theory.

I think you also have missed the fact the Panigale has an AIS system used to heat up the Cats on the standard bike. By fitting blanking plates to the AIS ( smog plates) you reduce the extra heat /combustion in the manifolds.

I don't understand why people get so upset over questions, I personally find it a bit confusing to find the exact information I'm looking for, so why not ask a question, we don't all have brand new bikes and well maybe after years of people dealing with this issue, someone found a solution and didn't post it on an older thread and may be willing to share some insight as to how they went about addressing the issue since it was just brought up, whenever I do ask questions on an older thread, I get the "why are we bringing this back to life" comment. Seems that unless it's a question about a newer model some people aren't happy. Well I will get off my soap box and thanks to everyone for the information and suggestions.

Reminds me of my old ford escort which was so overbored if anything happend to that engine i dont think you could rebore it and use it again. (cheapest was to get extra cc out of it at the time)
Anyhow, that was the only way for it to run cool, do big speeds in it.

who is getting upset over questions. its this constant stupid thread since 2012 this bike is hot that people get upset over. why because its stupid rambling. sport bike means your sitting on an engine that gets to 220 degrees hmmm maybe its hot who would have guessed it. try liquid performance coolant or engine ice.

I’ll say this, most sportbikes get hot. RSV4 that preceded my 1299S, hot. My S1000RR that preceded the RSV4, hot. But this is the only bike that gets insanely hot to where I can’t grip the tank with my knees, AND this is the only bike where speed does not alleviate the heat problem. It’s as hot at 20 as it is at 80.

My 1299 cooled down after recalibrating my ECU with an upgraded tune for Shell Nitro 93
The new software calls for my fans to turn on early now which is a great improvement. The bike is tuned for its Akra exhaust and the fueling is right on so I’m thinking that the improved Air:Fuel ratio has a big impact
If that doesn’t reduce your exposure to heat enough (it will) let’s take it one more step

Also a vote for the tune with lower temp the fan comes on.
Ducati has the fan set to come on when it’s about to boil over it seems factory. The tune I have lowered temp that it comes on and the bike is pretty decent to ride in traffic now. Prior to the tune and fan temp it was even hot on highway let alone sitting at a traffic light.
I was going to order the heat shields but tune made so much difference I don’t feel I need them. That may change this summer though we shall see.
