How Do You Guys Deal With The Heat????

4. With the aftermarket exhaust on my V4S, I prefer the sound to the V4 aprilia. I get compliments all the time on how amazing the bike sounds.

I like this part! At one of my last track days and was pitted with some friends, one who has a 2016 R1. I heard a couple of R1's going down the front straight and mentioned their sound (he turned to me and said you should hear your bike it sounds like I am at the races).

"what heat" ? ;)

get the cats removed...that should help....and definitely wear leathers....traffic is not your friend...so keep it moving

Agree with kevlar jeans if you're doing a lot of street riding. I've worn textile pants and the heat just bleeds through. In this current SoCal heat, the kevlars will hold up a bit longer. I do tend to feel that searing heat in the left leg that you mention, but I tend to still enjoy the aural sounds from this bike so I tend to forgive the heat.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. As for the bike, I don't mind it being uncomfortable (physically). Is it the best choice for a street bike? Probably not. Don't care to fry like an egg either tho. Will this issue make me sell the bike? No. I will make changes to the bike and myself so I can enjoy it. It's motor is a beast!!!

I already have a Yamaha R6 for the track and a 1299S that is street/track so the V4 will be seeing mostly street duty but you never know.

I'm already thinking about putting a full system exhaust on it so if anybody here has a hookup on one please let me know. As much as I do not like 2 pc leathers,I might break down and pick up a set. Don't really want to wear one of my race suits if I'm out riding with the wifey.

Again thanks and keep the suggestions coming.

What comfort I know a 65 year old that rode his to from central CA to Texas last year for MotoGP!

bwhip - I have pull back on my praise now with that exhaust comment (troll) LMAO

theres no best sound just preferences but that said the cross plane R-1 is one of the best in motorcycling

Yes it is. I have a graves 3/4 cat delete with 300mm can on my R1M and I love the sound. Wherever I go it always gets compliments.

another reason wh I’d want a R1M but wife already negated that and picked up another car so...the Corse will have to do for now.

Guess I'm lucky. Every time I tell her I'm getting another bike, she only says..."ok which one?". She loves to ride btw.

I'm here to help the OP.... the V4 is CRAP on the street, it is NOT FIXABLE... SELL IT, get as much of your money back as you can unless your idea of fun is having burned legs!!!! He obviously won't get any honesty from you fanboys.

You fanboys will love any crap just because it says Ducati. Sad.... real sad, obviously you have small ..... syndrome trying to impress other wannabes with a crappy street bike. FACT!

You're right. I'm not hardcore at all, and the first to admit it... I've just always wanted to own a Ducati, and only recently have been able to afford it. Am I a fan boy? Probably. Do I use it on the street? Yes, I mostly commute... the dealership even poked fun and called it the 'Commutergale'. Have I been on the track with it? Yes, once... in the slow group. Is it hot where I live? Yes, in summer is usually between 30 to 40C (86 to 104F). Note, in winter it is -5 to 15C (23 - 59F), so I have heated hand grips installed (and just bought Ducati thermals ;)). Do I have a small .....? Yes, it's tiny... but it satisfies me. Do I care what people think? Depends on who they are, but not usually.

But do I love the bike? Yes, but I am honest about it's quirks/faults (whatever you want to call it), so... OP, yeah, I'm not sure if the 2020 is hotter, but yeah, in traffic here on a 35 to 40C day, it's pretty rough, and I'm standing on my tiptoes to spread my legs. Leathers definitely help (I don't have Kevlars, so can't help there). I also believe there are after market heat shields. My commute each way is split into 26Km highway and 12Km flowing traffic with a bit of stop and start. The highway doesn't bother me much.

Good luck!

Just my humble opinion, I have found if I am disciplined in my riding position I do not have as hard a time with heat. I have a BMW S1000RR and the frame gets pretty hot in stop and go traffic. When I was driving the 2020 V4S home from the dealer I was not prepared for just how hot the bike can get. The day I drove if home to South Dakota it was a balmy 98 F with a heat index of over 105 F I really think it is more about the heat from the rear two cylinders than it is from the exhaust, either way if I keep a baseball sized gap between the tank and myself and make sure I am ridding on the balls of my feet, it’s not an issue. It also helps to sport some 9”boots too. I’ll snap a picture of the rear with an infrared camera and see what is the major offender.
