How Do You Guys Deal With The Heat????

Ducati Forum

I have a BMW S1000RR and the frame gets pretty hot in stop and go traffic. When I was driving the 2020 V4S home from the dealer I was not prepared for just how hot the bike can get.
Yup, and I’ve heard another factor is because the engine forms part of the frame (and there is no other frame around it acting as a heat sink)

The Streetfighter v4s has no real heat issues even at 90°s plus. Though sometimes annoying, when the computer shuts off the rear two cylinders at idle, even in stop-n-go traffic, the system works keeping the bike cool:)

My Diavel is quite the other story. You can take a trip and cook lunch all at the same time;)

on the V2, pointing the infrared pyrometer in various places, the exit of the catalytic converter is 50C hotter than anything else. I suspected the oil cooler being blocked by the charcoal canister but I was wrong.

they make a fiber shield for sweating copper next to studs/flammables. I might pick one up and see if it can be attached easily.

For the last few days in 34°C+, I rode the Sea-Doo's instead of the bikes.
Semi-joking aside, it's a Panigale issue. Leather pants are a must. The Multistrada and the Monster route the exhaust behind the rider thus much cooler.

I just did a rather good ride yesterday that burned my ... a bit, but only on the way back.

South OC up to Santa Monica, PCH up into Port Hueneme, 101 into SB, 5min break and back. Only stops were for fill ups, 1 each way. I ride in Dainese Todi Slims denim jeans...

That being said, I only have a slip on. The bike temp was steady at high 180s (at best), and mostly in the 190s (cruising fwy) and would go to 210+ as soon as I would hit any lights.

Sadly, the "only" fix to this is a leather suit and a header.

The Panigale is eye candy for sure but it's a terrible street bike. Most everyone who buys them are for the wrong reasons. It's a track bike FFS.
I just can't believe you had your wife sit on that maxi-pad. Do yourself a favor and demo a Multistrada with her.
It's just as fast as a Pani on the street, handles better, more comfortable for single or two-up , has heated grips, cruise and decent wind protection.
I know a few guys who also track their Multi and with decent lap times.

RIP Carlin.

I have a 2020 Panigale V4 and I definitely noticed the heat but it's just as hot as my BMW M S1000RR when I had it.

I just installed the full Akrapovic exhaust and wow that made a HUGE difference in the heat. I also put ZircoFlex on the Ilmberger subframe covers and Ilmberger frame covers before I installed them.

I plan on doing ZircoFlex on the Ducati performance seat when I get it in.

Debating on Akra slip on versus Akra full. Was leaning to slip on since it has ECU map and race air filter and still seems to give nice performance bump. Wonder if heat benefits are as substantial as full system...

For me I had to get the full system. If I'm going to do the exhaust might as well do it correctly and get what I want.

Let me tell you the ECU map made a huge difference. Made the bike perfect. It also made the lower RPM's and lower speeds much smoother as well

I don’t have a V4 so I may be out of place here. I have a 1299 Panigale and in doing my research prior to buying I heard about the heat. I live in Florida, it gets hot as hell....literally!!! I have ridden on a few 5 hour spirited Sunday rides and never ever gotten a smidge of a burn or irritation. It gets hot, but tolerable... never miserable. That said, upon getting the bike home I purchased heat shields from Ducati Spacers. ($80) It goes under the seat and in the subframe. I am not sure if they offer a V4 kit but worth looking into. I also read about doing the Engine Ice to keep the bike running cooler. I never hug the tank/ frame tightly while riding either. Don’t know if any of this helps, best of luck!

I have a few bikes, duc”s included. When I tested the v4 it was just too uncomfortable.
The heat would make me not want to ride it. I bought a yam R1. Couldn’t be happier.
Hasn’t got the fit or power of the v4, but also it’s not hot !
And it’s comfortable.
I would still get a V4 , if and only if the heat is sorted.
To each his own I guess.

Thanks for that feedback. Called today and will likely get the full installed next week. I'm in Florida (this is my 3rd Ducati Superbike, had 1098, still have 1198 with race setup, full exhaust/Microtech ECU, aftermarket Ohlins front/rear, etc.)

This V4 runs pretty hot here for Florida. I'm not too bothered by it, but it is noticably hotter than my other Ducatis.

Full Akra along with Water Wetter and bike will be perfect!

I have the same opinion. I live in South Florida 95+ with 90% humidity almost every day during this time and ride the V4 every day and don't have any complaints.

I've owner a CBR1000RR, S1000RR and now this and they're all similar in heat / temperature. I mean each person is going to have their own opinion on what's hot or not but so far all the bikes I've owned have had the same amount heat / temperature

Its interesting how different everyone's experience is with this bike. The V4S is a bike I ride daily in stop and go and longer distances and it is completely great to me. Not just great. One of the best.

Nice I'm in south Florida. This is actually my first Ducati and quite frankly I'm very impressed by it.

You're going to love the Akrapovic it transforms it into something else.

Cycle Gear within reasonable driving distance? I bought some riding pants from them that looked good and were comfortable. They will give better heat protection than regular jeans. I don't blisters with those on; I know the heat's there but it's not "ouchy".

Breaking in my new V4. Yes, it’s toasty. So was the BMW S1000RR I nearly bought. My last Ducati was a 907ie and I’m retiring a BMW R1200S so, yes, I notice the difference in, well, everything. As for the heat... as soon as I swapped my Speedo swim suit and flip flops for Sidi boots and jeans the heat effect on my legs dropped to tolerable. I’m told that when I can take it out of “street mode” into a more aggressive setting, the fans will stay on longer or cut in sooner... or something like that. Perhaps others can share their experiences. Looking forward.

ps. I like the idea of seamless integration with an Akro exhaust but like the cosmetics of the Termignoni. Time will tell. For now, there are a few bits and bobs I’ll be adding while I watch the aftermarket space fill up. Cheers.

hot...heat...heat...heat...hot...heat...

mr "immortal" (?!), nothing special nor new about 'your' problem.
In fact, many other Duc's and other Superbikes from other brands have similar issues.

Next time please do a proper "Ducati+Panigale+V4+heat" search and add your personal experiences there instead of opening yet another new topic? #lazy
Sorry but this topic is just another repetition of what many more across the internet have been discussing over and over about the PV4. ZZZzzz
Yours even includes a hilarious Tuono troll. #SadBrandBashing

I really don't understand why people are again and again taken by surprise about these heat 'issues' with high performance combustion engines designed for and derived from racing?!
Just race the bloody thing, toughen up a/o appreciate her "bodyheat"? After-all pain is just an emotion.;)
Simply choose to perceive it as a given, remedy it or buy something boring (eBike)?...

This is what I did and works just fine: engine heat

nJoy your smoking hot Bella!;)
