How many will buy a 1299 twin instead of new V4?

I agree. It turns in less quickly but handles high speed direction changes more quickly. Stability , when set up is better mid corner and corner exit.
The v4 feels as characterful as the twin to ride easier at lower speeds but more intimidating when ridden in anger ,, which is good as it's purely down to the amount of power that it produces over a very wide rpm range.

Reality is if you own either your pretty close to experiencing motorcycling bliss

Your on it . First time I rode mine in standard trim I thought it was great but not convinced yet . With some tuning with the front and setting up the rear with a new shock I'm really happy with it . I was never unhappy with the way it turned in more on how the bike would exit and feel more confident now to push harder on it

Blabla.. But the V4 doesnt sound good. Where is the Ducati twin drone? Now gone!
In other words Wilkson, your bike sounds .... and looks plastic fantastic.

Stick a system on and it sounds fantastic.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We're all entitled to our opinion just not sure why some seem hell bent on creating a slanging match about something we all enjoy for our own reasons.

Lol
I've never enjoyed biking as much !!!

Lol . Are you a adult ? Puberty can be a difficult time for most children I suggest you just stick to masturbation and let us grown ups talk about bikes .

I pitted with a guy from Serbia 3 weeks ago at Mugello, He had an FE with 20,000 Euro spent on it , (nice Pierbon extended swing arm too), and a near new stock V4 with race glass. He intends to go Mupo, exhaust etc. I asked him how do they compare. He said the FE was more powerfull as it had been worked , but expected the V4 to top it when finished. V4 easier to ride as it was, I also noticed his times were near identical using the stock V4 .
Why does $ come up when I forget to take my fingure off the shift key typing V$ ?

It's had battery, radiator, chain, and sprockets.
Sounds like a new slave and your right to go for some time!

I rode a stock 1299 after I finished sorting mine, I really liked the 1299 but after I got back onto mine I really enjoyed the ride home and that was the end of me thinking about upgrading. I'm sure if I put all my bits onto a 1299 it would turn out better than what I have but when do you stop?

My 1199 is a sweet ride and have no intention of getting rid of it, But luckily you and I live in parts of the world where we can pretty well do as we please.

The guy who owned the dealer is a long time friend of mine (he recently sold the dealer). He told me the same thing yesterday. There are still a hell of a lot of components that can fail. And the vibration is not kind to many parts.

I can get a really good deal on a new 2018 S1000RR right now and it's very tempting. I could care less about the new one coming out. I have also owned the "Single R" and had zero problems with it. My biggest single concern is the ergos. I did a short ride on one a few years ago and my wrists hurt within minutes. Anyone here owned an RR and can comment on that?

I picked up a 1299FE. I wanted the last vtwin and I loved the idea of rawness. I'm adding the race exhaust this weekend.
Same price could get the V4 speciale just not interested. I also expect more value for the FE. Not that i plan on selling anytime soon.

Oddly. One styling item in the V4. I cannot stand the plastic cover on the fuel tank.

Both amazing. And especially for the street. I'm very happy.

Good move

If the ergo design of the Pani suits you then that seems a no brainer, but maybe a long test on the BMW is in order to clear it up once and for all. What ever happens good luck with it.

Oddly all the comparisons tests on the 1199/1299 say the Ducati is the worst as a street bike and the S1000RR the best in terms of comfort. My dealer has one he will let me ride, but it's his only RR in stock and has no miles on it so he says he doesn't want me to put many miles on it, which I understand.

I'm not going to rush into it. There are plenty of RRs at local dealers and there are $2,000 factory incentives. And my 1199 is at a point where it won't lose any value any more.

Tell him to get a demo from the BMW group for you to ride, especially if there is no hurry. They can get one to him and you can have an extended ride.

I have all twins and I love "˜em!

I looked at both, rode both.... and as much as I wanted to be a "purist" and ride the 1299.... and as much as it was a lot less money... I ended up with the V4.. IT's everything good about a Ducati and more.

Finally test rode the V4.

Compared to my 1299, the V4 is obviously the better overall bike, much in the same way as how i found the S1000RR was better than the 1299 when I test rode them back to back, before choosing the 1299. The V4 is smoother, found it easier to flick, easier on the wrists and had a more comfortable seating position. I almost forgot how smooth a 4 cylinder was, being able to go around roundabouts in 1st without having to feather the clutch felt amazing lol.

The 1299 thuogh, still puts a bigger smile on me personally, it has alot more torque (bike wants to move when slowly disengaging the clutch lever), a less-linear engine which i love (not a fan of a flat linear power delivery) and aggressive seating position. The thinner seat was also a positive for a short person like me.

I probably would eventually end up going back to a 4 cylinder sometime in the future, eventually I get bored of an engine after spending so many years with one. I do miss the top end pull of a 4 cylinder.

I know them feels bro.

My ego was like take the roundabout faster, what kind of ..... pulls the clutch in, in first to go around a roundabout.
