Hello Guys,
I'm in my first year of ownership of a 1199 base.

Been on sportbikes about 20yrs, and Ive dyno tuned everyone ive owned at some point or another.

After reading the MelcoDiag thread thats been going on for ages, I'm pretty confused as to how i should proceed.

I have the standard UP Map that came with the termignoni slip ons. But there is still a fueling issue around 6-7K, and every bike ive ever owned has improved greatly from actual dyno tuning...

So...HOW do i do this boys? Power Commander is what ive always used in the past, but I'm at a loss as how to proceed on my first ducati.

thanks,
JAG

I used PC on my precious CBR, but find Tuneboy even simpler. The functionality is there with some additional options such as cruise and launch control. There's no additional wiring or hardware, just flash. It's not as polished as the PC interface, but it is functional. Whilst you don't need to buy another module like Autotune, you do need to install wideband 02 sensors which require new bungs and wiring.

Contact Vcyclenut from the forum. Or you look up his # on his website www.vcyclenut.com He is has a lot experience with Dyno tuning. He used the Woolich ECU flash to create the perfect ECU flash for a 1299 with a Vandemon full undertail system or Vandemon underbelly full system. If you go on his website and see the features his ECU flash has you will be impressed. That ECU flash can also be used on a 1299 with a Akra full undertail system and Akra full underbelly system.

When I sold Ducatikev a Zard slipon for his 2020 Ducati V4. Ducatikev took his bike to Vcyclenut to get a custom Dyno tune with the Zard slipon. Ducatikev bought his base V4 around June 2020 and got his Zard slipons July 2020. At that time Woolich didnt have any programs for the V4. Vcyclenut still put the base V4 on the Dyno to see the #s with the Zard slipon. Although it showed an improvement in power while doing the Dyno run. Vcyclenut told Ducatikev that if he is only installing a slipon exhaust. There is no point in paying and doing a full Dyno on a bike with a slipon.

If the slipon termis you have come with a single upmap (meaning you send your vin # to whomever you bought the slipons from and they send your vin # to Ducati). That unlocks 1 upmap map that was designed for you bike. If you have the actual Upmap T800 unit that is bolted to you bike and controlled by blue tooth to load different maps into your bike and be controlled by your blue tooth for different maps. Then thats a whole different ballgame.. Vcyclenut does not think a bike with a slipon needs a dyno tune

I forgot to mention. When I had the Termi Relevance slipons on my 1299. Originally I had the Power Commander V plus auto tune. Sometimes the bike would finally start after 2 or 3 attempts. Sometimes it started on the first attempt. The bike stalled a few times while I was riding it. But wound up starting back up again Then one day I stalled on the highway and had to be towed to my house 40 miles away. My Ducati dealer picked my bike up and had it in the shop for two weeks. I got it back and was told everything was fine. They did some diagnostic work and some other stuff which I dont remember. I installed the Termis June of 2016 along with the Power Commander V and autotune. And the issues I mentioned started happening soon there after. The first time the bike stalled and didnt turn back on as I mentioned above was August 2016. After getting my back two weeks later at the end of August. I road my bike to work. Halfway there the bike stalled again and didnt turn on. I called the dealership and they sent a van to pick the bike up and drive me home. I get the bike back 3 weeks later and was told they removed the Power Commander V and auto tune because the bike didnt work well with the PC V. I asked how did they know and come to that conclusion. Their head tech said that some Panigales worked with the PC and some didnt. When he worked at a different dealership he saw this happen as well. If I am not mistaken and someone correct me if I am wrong because this was many years ago. But he said that not all the ECU's Ducati used came from the same manufacturer. And due to this, the programming on one Ducati 1299 can be one way and another could be slightly different. That's why some PC V's worked with Panigales and some didnt. Whether that was true or not. After the PC V and auto tune were removed I rode the bike till the end of the riding season without one hiccup. Then March 2017 I installed the Rapid Bike evo. I already had the rapid bike evo's and the rapid bike my tuning in both my BMWs and liked the way the bikes felt. So I figured I would install one on my 1299. But rapid bike doesnt make a my tuning for Vtwins. They only make the My tuning for inline 4's. The Duc felt great. It tuned itself to the way I rode. Whats also nice about the rapid bike is that if you get a different bike you can unplug it from its harness. Then send it to the Rapid bike location in FL and Yaman will reprogram the unit to work with you new bike as long as they make a rapid bike for the bike you purchased. He would reprogram it for free. You would just need to purchase a new wire harness for the bike you bought. Thats still way cheaper than buying a new rapid bike. But when I installed my Vandemon undertail I sold my rapid bike and had Vcyclenut flash my ECU. I never had any complaints from guys that I sold rapid bikes to with Ducatis and other bike models. The ones who wound up selling their bikes and buying new ones were always happy that all they needed to do was send in their unit to get reprogrammed for free and I would sell them a new harness cheap. Here is a video of a guy reviewing the rapid bike. He is on a 1299. Go to the 2:30 mins mark. There are some forum members who will swear by the rapid bike. And others hate it because they dont like how it works.

Good luck with the knee replacement. My dad had two. But he is 1.75 inches tall now LOL. He was bowed legged and now his legs are straight LOL.

When you get back at it, look into Tuneboy, they have a map for your set up that you can start with - I have it on mine (plus the cruise control :) )
