I usually just crap my pants to create a nice wet layer that acts as a heat absorber. It works really well and it's pretty easy to install.

But a bitch to clean up and a whopper to explain to the pit crew...
Can confirm, installed these yesterday and made a huge difference today on the commute in to the office, I was a little skeptical on the install with the way it's attached but by morning it was solid as a rock.. I would give it a 8/10 overall.. 10/10 finish and fitment wise a 2/10 for instructions (not that it's complicated at all, just could be better then a 1980's looking xerox copy looking page) Overall very satisfied, it does what I wanted it to.. prevents 2nd degree burns to my legs from the subframe... yeah, yeah I could wear full leathers to work but no, I don't, jeans so I needed something.
I can see how this would reduce "felt heat" but wouldn't this mod make the engine heat problem worse...it's gotta go somewhere?
Sort of like how wrapping pipes. FWIW I have'n t noticed much of a problem...even in 90 degrees.
Ok, getting varying points on this subject and i would like some clarification before buying this thing. And before my bike is delivered to the track because once i get it, it will be time to grid up. If this is going to be installed, i want it done now while the bike is in pieces.
1. With a full exhaust (Cats removed), is this still an issue?
2. Is the heat truly not an issue when wearing leathers?
Of course i will be moving at a pretty good speed most of the time, but there are still times when we are stuck sitting on the grid, or in hot pit, etc. I dont want my balls to melt.
#1 hell yes it is. To fix it I wrapped my full termi under the seat only.
I ceramic coated inside and out AND wrapped my headers.. I didn't notice much of a difference if any. The subframe covers i installed ( super easy install I didn't get ANY instructions..the left side was a bitch and i was thinking it was impossible but i did get it. I added some of my own extra heat tape. It worked wonders. it still gets hot but i don't notice it nearly as much. Mainly on my calves.
