How To Fix The 1299/1199 Heat Issue

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I put 1/8" thick ceramic washers between the subframe and engine block. Helped a bunch

Still have some heat transfers thru the bolt bodies but at least its only warm to the touch now, not blistering hot.

I did that with my 2012 Tricolore...but still got scorched by the vert cyl and head! Of course this was before the engine cover TSB!!

Did you trim metal off the subframe to compensate for the washer thickness?

Hi there, last post on this was July in the northern hemisphere summer, just wondered if anyone had any updates on the effectiveness of this part? I definitely need some help in the Singapore/Malaysian heat!

Cheers

Trick is keeping motor under 200f

Larger upper and lower radiators is the best bet if heat is an issue

Ok, getting varying points on this subject and i would like some clarification before buying this thing. And before my bike is delivered to the track because once i get it, it will be time to grid up. If this is going to be installed, i want it done now while the bike is in pieces.

1. With a full exhaust (Cats removed), is this still an issue?

2. Is the heat truly not an issue when wearing leathers?

Of course i will be moving at a pretty good speed most of the time, but there are still times when we are stuck sitting on the grid, or in hot pit, etc. I dont want my balls to melt.

As a follow up to this, after racing the bike all weekend, I can say the heat wasn't an issue. I didn't even notice it.

I was hot in general because my suit is black and the sun was out a good bit. But I didn't notice any additional or abnormal heat coming from the bike. Not any more than any of my other bikes.

I am glad I didn't spend the money and waste the time on this thing.

Your results may vary.

The bike will not feel physically hot while racing but depending on the climate the engine temp will .
With high engine temp it is of course not the optimum for producing HP and there is a loss at high temps .

I'm not really worried about the heat when I have my full leathers on for a track day, I'm mainly asking about the effectiveness for those trips when I will be wearing textile clothing and there will be frequent stop/starts with traffic through villages or towns during a full day ride. It will be hot and humid from first thing in the morning till last thing at night!

Never had a problem even pushing it hard in 100f weather.

Only slow speeds when you cannot keep the engine under 200f.

Tough to do in hot temps under 45mph.

Racing radiators is the best way to get the edge on temps your looking for.

No amount of exhaust wrap or shields will help when the motor is cooking

I use my bike almost solely for the track. I don't notice the heat unless it's 85 F or so AND the engine temps are over 200 F. When my lap is up against the tank as it should be if I don't want aching wrists, my lap feels pretty warm on hot track days. It's not distracting because I'm too focused on keeping the rubber side down to notice until I let up. I won't feel the heat if I slide back an inch but it's generally not the best place to be on the track.....guess what happens if you don't lock the wrists and you brake hard at the end of a fast straightaway!

1199 r heat issue

I got my 1199 r without knowing how much heat I have to deal with. It's too much of heat that I almost burned my thighs. I got subframe cover and soon going to wrap as well. I hope it will reduce the issue because I love my bike :)

Dude, You live in an oven. I have an office and a hangar at the Scottsdale Airpark. I do not go there six months out of the year.If you are riding a Panigale in AZ in the summer in the daylight, you are a brave man. You might as well just get a fire suit. How does the bike not overheat?

Tell me about it... here in Vegas it gets 110-114F during summer time.. I only ride at 7am (around 90F) and its still rough!

My right thigh gets RED if I wear jeans and my mesh jacket! but if I wear my 1 piece suit to go "canyon craving" I don't get as hot.. weird huh?

Yea I cant even imagine owning a bike that is already pushing the thermal limits in a livable climate in Vegas or AZ. Plus wearing the gear. Im out.

I can't complain since I live in Sweden but I can imagine in Italy during the summer [emoji3] as many people say this is a track bike that's it
