How To Fix The 1299/1199 Heat Issue

How does that little piece of CF resolve a heat issue?

It doesn't.
If you're wearing thin jeans or pants you're riding a superbike wrong to begin with. Kevlar jeans or leathers and it's fine. The heat comes from head of the motor and the exhaust anyways.
A carbon subframe would be a neat idea for weight and the smallest bit of heat but nobody makes one to replace the OEM subframe last time I checked other than the superleggeras subframe?

Tyler, post up a close up pic so I can view the piece installed. Even just a pic of the entire subframe and tail section. When you get a chance. Please.

I agree. Other than riding to work I'm always in my 1-piece and I don't feel any of the heat. Only when I ride to work I feel the heat. It's manageable but if they actually work it'd be an easy solution to convincing the wifey it's to cure the heat issue while I'm really just adding another piece of CF to he bike (it'll match my shift tech fender and shock cover too).

Me: Babe, you see this exhaust pipe here, and how it's mounted right beneath my seat? You'd think it was the cause of all the heat I complain about (I would complain about a week before I propose the buy). Wrong, it's because the subframe is attached to the rear head and the heat just radiates from it. But there's a solution (explain the piece).
Her: The .... did you just say?
Me: I need this or I'll burn.
Her: Fine! But I'm getting this one purse I've been looking at!
Me: (in my head) .... ya, more carbon fiber.

I'll proly throw in agnostic to boggle her ....... mind as well.

Never had any excessive heat issues on this bike that were much worse than that of the I4s I've been stuck in traffic on.

As was said, if you're wearing leathers or Kevlar Jeans or proper textile armoured pants, you should be okay. Sure when you're stopped it gets hot. Same with any time you're sitting on top of an engine.

I remember being on my 1000rr and pulling up to stop lights looking at my temp gauge thinking "fck! The fans are going to kick on as soon as I stop!"

It was over 30c here today (that is around 90f I guess) and it wasn't bad. Did 3 hours of riding and I was hot because I was wearing full leathers.

I'm not in southern U.S. with blistering temps, but I think the sun would be your issue there, not the bike.

All you new gents with the 1299 are free to use my name as your referral to call Guido and tell him I sent you for this hot little item (all pun intended) and while at it pick up some more of his fantastic Ducati products which are without a doubt the best CF in the biz! - IMHO of course from the thousands of dollars of CF I have purchased over the years! ;)

Typically I wear a one piece suit. However I rode 3 hours to get my service done and stay with my dad. I encountered rain and hail. When I finally arrived, the inside of my leg was almost to the point of a second degree burn and 36 hours later I've popped 1 small blister. Most of that was due to wet clothing plus heat though.

Thanks scrapper, I will order these when I get home. Maybe I can get them painted black.

The problem with the race suit that ive experenced is the the stretch material in the crotch and inner theigh area allow the heat to roll in from the subframe. Not bad on the track or at speeds but in town was hot.

Ok, getting varying points on this subject and i would like some clarification before buying this thing. And before my bike is delivered to the track because once i get it, it will be time to grid up. If this is going to be installed, i want it done now while the bike is in pieces.

1. With a full exhaust (Cats removed), is this still an issue?

2. Is the heat truly not an issue when wearing leathers?

Of course i will be moving at a pretty good speed most of the time, but there are still times when we are stuck sitting on the grid, or in hot pit, etc. I dont want my balls to melt.

It's definitely the bike, not the sun. I've owned a number of bikes, and while it's not a true super sport bike, I do have a Ninja 1000 that puts out 140 hp at the wheels. I never feel any heat coming off that bike....ever. On a warm (much less hot) day if I get into stop and go riding on the Ducati the heat coming through and around the seat becomes almost unbearable. And I have the covers over the heads they started installing in 2013.

Chaotic, I've never had a problem with it on the track. Even on the street in full leathers I barely notice it.

It's a 200 + hp superbike, I don't get what people expect. It's a twin to boot so you're sitting on top of a fire pit basically. You can't compare i4s to this as the engine sits a bit more forward. The engine walls are probably a bit thinner from the 1199 to the 1299 just like they did going from the 1098 to the 1198s.

I'm done with all the heat threads.

This topic is handled way too hot :D

With a full system and in leathers I wouldn't worry a bit. Heck, I ride mine in traffic here in the south , and yes, it's hot but not as bad...
