How To Fix The 1299/1199 Heat Issue

OP---If it helps, I did the jet hot coating inside and outside of my exhaust and have the Gen 2 carbon heat shield for the full Termi exhaust. It seems to have done the trick for me. I VIVIDLY remember the stock exhaust with the stock steel cover and having to literally stand on my toes at red lights to get my thighs away from the heads and pipes heat. That sucked in Louisiana 100 degree heat. Once I did the jet hot and the Gen 2 cover its completely manageable and I rarely notice. I also use the Lean Angle jeans which seam to insulate my legs a bit more with the full Kevlar liner. But they are considerably ticker (read: hotter)....

I've ridden the Pani in both low-mid ambient temperatures and up to 37C in slow moving traffic in Italy. There is no getting away from the fact that these bikes pump out a LOT of hea,t but even in Kevlar Jeans as opposed to my leathers, I've never had it so bad that it was unbearable. I've a pair of subframe covers on and placed some green insulating felt washers at the mounting points, whcih had reduced the conductivtiy from the rear cylinder head. The only really noticeable source now is from the rear exhaust loop which is fairly exposed with the somewhat minimalist Akra full system heat shield fitted.
 
Any one try using heat wrap around the entire heat shield and leaving the end open so instead of the heat radiating out the side and burning your legs, the heat now comes out the small open end and away from your legs. It might heat up your ass a little more but it might help the legs.
 
So the heat can build up and melt the top of the heat shield, great idea.

Simpler solution is to wrap the whole exhaust pipework which makes f*ck all difference, just ride the damn thing.

If you do that will the bike sound quieter? Any sound changes?
 
Exhaust wrap....NO,NO,NO!!!

Forget exhaust wrapping. There is a very good reason that race cars stopped using this stuff years ago - used to be the 'norm' on NASCAR cars for many years, but they found the wrap holds the heat into the metal, changes the material strength and the exhausts have to be regularly changed. NASCAR were changing their extractor exhausts after every race meeting!!!
Now, while they can afford to do it, I don't think anyone on the forum would want to start throwing new exhaust systems on their Dukes every other year!! Stick to the ceramic coatings inside and out - ok, won't hold the heat away quite like a complete exhaust wrap, but it does help. Of course the Shift Carbon heat guards are definitely the way to go, not a cheap fix like exhaust wrapping, but the end result works AND looks better than the wrap IMHO.
 
I cannot believe we are still all banging on about this. If you don't want heat go buy a f*cking moped.....

Damn heat !!!!!!!!!!!!! jesus H on a moped ... nobody got any smarts on this site ??? being a cheap bastard , I threw on a leather apron ,saddle blanket ,whatever you wanna call it ...WORKS GREAT !!! cheap or whut ??? no moe baked beans ... though I am looking for a more suitable fabric ... somethin CLASSY !!! know whut I mean jelly bean ???
 
Here is what u can do, go to HD/Lowe's and pick up an aluminum foil tape roll and tape it on the in/out side the frame and paint the outside (black to match the frame)
or you can order Shif-Tech CF subframe and be very happy rider (search for Shif-Tech) on "How-to" section

Another solution is ride fast til it runs out of gas :):)
