41T Sprocket Upgrade & ECU Map applied

As requested.

The latest ECU UPMAP

The Ducati ECU UPMAP is now available. The lasted UPMAP consists of both an upgrade to the UPMAP engineers software management and the UPMAP package, which includes a number of ECU upgrades - including support for a 41T Sprocket. As per member's request I did enquire what the filename was for the 41T and the feedback is there is not one there are several. I trust my tech wrenches. Bottom line, the UPMAP is clearly available and thus I had it applied to my bike today.

The Kit

* I AM NOT USING THE DUCATI 41T SPROCKET *

I have AEM Factory 41T Black Hardened Aluminum sprocket, AEM Factory Magnesium Career, AEM Factory Aluminum Flange, Titanium Cushes, Titanium Studs, Titanium bolts

Bellissimoto did me a solid and supplied these parts quickly - so thanks to them and as you know Gunny is knocking around :D

The other items are DID 525 chain and Pro-Bolt Titanium Bi-Hex nuts (both sides). There are other mods in this picture which I will cover off at a later date.

Initial Impressions

WOW !! :D Performance is much better, power rolls on super smooth and expect to make good use of that Dynamic Quick Shifter. Acceleration is vastly improved. Words simply fail me at the moment, I was very surprised at how good this upgrade is. Ducati come through with a decent UPMAP.

I have attached a picture of my setup and you can find a High resolution photo here : 41T Sprocket upgrade - Ducati 1199

Oh man, your bike is looking good!!!

Your exhaust is so shiny and so much CF. I love it!!!

Awesome man! Think I'll be doing the 41t rear soon too. Actually passed by my dealer and the said they haven't got the upmap yet. Seems Cali got it first.

Why did you decide on the 525 chain and not the 520?

Thanks for the update Cali, your bike is really looking good! I called both dealers here again today and no map update yet or sDucati sprockets. I would've thought this would be a universal release.

I believe the dealer has to update their management software before they can receive the latest UPMAPs.

Better Durability, The sprocket components are mainly a mixture of Titanium, Magnesium and Aluminum so it made more sense to go for 525. *NO FLAMING* ;)

I was frustrated, mine said he didn't have it when he was wrenching on my bike today. The new heatshield for the termis looks good, did not install cylinder covers.

If you get a chance lets see the heat shield.

My thoughts? It looks good, matches the other DP CF and has a metal liner that will REALLY help which as you can see starts over the inlet. Just a little miffed the lower infil panels I ordered were gloss lol.

Hey caliduc, can you post up the distance from the adjustment point on the shock or the blue set nut to the end of the threads?

Trying ensure my swingarm/shock length are at the rate angle/length.

Thanks, doesn't look too bad just a little bulky, but at least it's cf! Do really notice any difference in the heat?

I'll ride tomorrow. I just got back from picking it up and I'm tired. If it bothers you, one could always cut the part that extends on the brake side and it'd look about the same just with that metal insulator.

True. I have the cf shield now and looks similar except yours perhaps covers a little more of the pipe, has the brake-side appendage and the metal lining. I'm curious to hear what you think. I won't make any decision yet until summer, right now it just doesn't bother me that much. I am getting ansy about the damn sprocket map already though.

+1. On the heat shield. It looks good on TransNone bike. I currently have a gloss heat shield with a hole to accommodate passenger pegs. So I welcome a satin heat shield that matches the rest of the carbon minus the holes for the passenger pegs (I plan to take the passenger pegs off). I will probably cut the new satin heat shield down to the shape of the current heat shield, this is just a very personal preference. I will not be putting the engine plastic covers on. If the heat *really* bothered me then I can always remove the Termi' Flapper valve, which would provide better in flow, mitigate a lot of the heat issue and make the Termi sound even better.

In the UK we still do not have the upgrade availiable, mied - late April is the word and £220UKP supplied fitted and should 100% be done with the map....

My question is, my bike in std is almost unusable on power in first and second it lifts the wheel on power just hitting 7k...don't get me wrong i like this !!! however with shorter gearing this is gonna make 1st and 2nd wheely city...? Or is the map changing the power / trque delivery to flatten it out a bit.?....anyone know.?

cheers

Legion that was my original worry but as I've got used to the delivery a delicate action and good weight forward seems to be able to tame the worst of the beast even with some pretty a spirited riding. Prt of the problem is we're having to legislate for that sudden burst of power. If the 41T evens the power curve out by delivering from the much lower down then I'm guessing it will actually feel more progressive - something I think I've heard other people confirm to date??? Anyone?

Looks good Trans, Ive been riding with it on for the past week and I get no seat at all. Although it really didn't bother me at all ever since I ceramic coated the exhaust but the new Termi shield is really effective. The engine cover is really effective too if you get that inner thigh burning. I actually rode my bike with shorts on to test it bike got up to 220F and no heat problems. The bike is way cooler than my R1.

Yeah, I'm about to go test it out. The cylinder head never bothered me, I have longer legs and I also don't like the idea of not seeing the engine etc. I've had both valve covers leak, and I NEVER would have seen it if I had them on.
