Inflation is out of control

Some of this is true (i.e. fiat currencies), but the correlation to the observation that limited resources tend to concentrate in a small percentage of the population is far from definitive. Many natural systems demonstrate similar distribution of limited resources (i.e. the top 1%) independent of the frailties of human nature (like greed), and our economic systems.

Money is just numbers on a screen to me. You're telling me I can have this superbike if I just change these digital numbers? Sounds like a good deal to me. As long as the roof stays over my head and electricity/water stays on, I don't really care about accumulating money. I definitely accumulate stuff though. The good part about stuff is you can use force to keep people from taking it. You can turn all my bank accounts into nothing but 0s but I can force feed you 7.62mm individually wrapped hard candies if you try to take my Panigale. Checks and balances.

Well judging by the number of people on this board living in 7 figure homes with six figure toys in the garage I’m guessing greed is good otherwise all that money going to Brembo and Ohlins would be going to feed and house people.

A few observations from the last 50 years:

1. Forced (i.e. state imposed) wealth redistribution does little to improve conditions for those with less (look at the war on poverty)
2. Innovation, driven largely by capitalism and greed (i.e. the individual perception of benefit), has lifted billions of people from abject poverty
3. State mandated collectivism results in even more concentration of limited resources than capitalism, with enormous human suffering to boot (50 million dead in China, 25 million in the USSR, 2 million in Cambodia…)

Cheques.

7 figure home used to mean somethin in l.a. county but even some teardowns are well into 7 figures. I guess this applies to only a few places in the country.

Hell, my meager home in San Diego was just touching 7 figures before prices dipped a bit recently. Crazy watching homes in my area skyrocket in price considering I got it for the mid 600s in 2020.

Agree.

Regardless of the type of government, human populations around the world mostly fit similar pyramidal distributions.
  1. The top few will work hard, educate themselves, hustle, save, innovate, invest, multiply wealth and generally have an outsized impact on everyone else.
  2. There is a certain bottom rung that will be nothing but baggage with no interest in furthering themselves.
  3. There is a vast in-between group that's neither here nor there and has ups and downs that pull them into either category above.
Many many countries fit that pattern. Many many countries also fade away over time when the fire burns out. Countries that sustain their prosperity are able to take the time to create opportunities for the second and third tiers to get up to the top and keep the fire burning. It doesn't mean handouts or freebies or welfare programs, it just means creating pathways for more people to join the race. Educational scholarships, access to capital, removal of institutionalized garbage like kings and queens/racism etc.

Soundbites, simplistic arguments etc are usually wrong but they serve their purpose to make you feel in control and "better" than the lazy useless unwashed masses!

Want to understand today's world read history and you could do a lot worse than picking up a copy Jose Ortega's "The Revolt of the Masses"

Bahahahahahaha, ain’t that the ....... truth. Very nice sir. You have individuals inking 9 figure contracts to bounce an Orange ball. You don’t need to look any further into what’s wrong with the things. Whole place is a nut show. What we need is a nice global ... kicking to reset the value of all these “entertainers” back to ....... zero where it belongs.

btw, we're not talking about the 1% here when we get into Fiat Currency and who controls Central Banks and economies.
We're talking about the .00001%
