also things to consider. at leaset this is the info I got from a insurance agent local to oklahoma, just FYI of what your getting with the cheaper discount cutrate insurance co's when something happens:

For auto policies, State Farm is the ONLY company that buys OE sheetmetal for ALL model years. There are a few companies that will buy OE for the first 2-3 model years of age before they switch to aftermarket. But most places will buy you CAPA the second you drive off the lot. Some won't even buy certified aftermarket parts. USAA and AAA are also better than average for auto insurance coverage (I'm not sure about their premiums). But if you have Geico, you're going to get ....... They are by far the WORST of the major players in the industry.

And Progressive also just made big changes in the way they handle their claims. They are forcing their customers to go to 4 shops in the metro for estimates with few exceptions. Of course, if you are with Progressive because of their price, you've got your own problems. They are the leader for 2nd tier customers. They take you because the big companies don't want you.

I just booked an R and was trying to come up with a quote and the breakdown is as follows from GEICO

Bodily Injury - $100000/$300000
Property Damage - $50000
Medical Payments - $5000
Uninsured Motorist - $100000
Underinsured Motorist - $100000
Comprehensive - $1000 deductible
Collision - $1000 deductible
Towing - Accepted
Accessory coverage - upto $3500

Total for 12 months - $1100

I live in Minneapolis btw so maybe other areas would differ but I think this is a good quote IMO from GEICO.. Progressive is like $3000 odd for just 1 bike with similar options

I just paid for a 12mo Progressive policy with those #s except a $500 comp deductible and $2500 med pmts. $1470. Safeco wanted $2200. 37/Homeowner/Clean record. It's my only policy with Progressive. Everything else is USAA. I remember getting $160 A YEAR for the same policy on a 1098 Tricolore with USAA prior to 2008 when they stopped insuring bikes. They took a beating on claims with so many guys getting back from Iraq and wrecking literbikes. "Hey, I survived Fallujah and Mosul, a zx-10R can't hurt me" was basically the sentiment.

I finally settled for GEICO for my R.. did some changes to the quote with $500 deductibles on comprehensive and collision and upto $5000 in accessories. Came to $1400 for 12 months which isn't bad.

Moreover their winter enrolment program should save me some money for the period my bike isn't gonna be used so that's pretty nice.

7 days and counting for delivery..

Just an FYI for you guys with Riders Insurance. I got my renewal this week and the premium doubled due to a "reclassification" of the Panigale. I am switching companies and keeping about the same rate I had before the reclassification. Just wanted to give anybody with Riders a heads up that you should shop it around when you get your renewal. They were nowhere close to the cheapest with the changes to the rate due to the reclassification.

Unfortunately all Ducatis are being reclassified with Rider, not just the 1199. Due to the high claims rate on the Monster 696/796 it will be rated like an R6!

The $400 a year full coverage was nice for a while though with Rider. It was cheaper to insure the 1199 than it was my 2006 Brutale 910S. My renewal is up in October. Sure as hell not going back to Progressive (asshats). My cars are with Liberty Mutual but I've never found them competitive for motorcycle rates (even when you have a friend on the inside). I have a Dairyland quote for $1200, but I have issues with a company that uses your credit history against you (like the asshats at Progressive (yes, that's twice to make my point)).

Who are you going through?

I use American Modern
American Modern

$1100/yr with the Panigale and the Triumph on it. My insurance agent that I've used the past 20+ yrs wrote it for me.

Seem to be pretty good company. 1 claim a few weeks ago (Pani had to be towed because of flat tire - $309 towing fee) was settled and paid promptly in an afternoon with no hassle (all but $9).

took full coverage off the pani last year, went down to $55 / month
new statement shows $37/month.

me happy

Right now I have rate quotes from both Geico and Allstate that are significantly lower than the Rider quote after the reclassification. I am still poking around, but may end up with one of those.

My rates multiplied 5 times ($1100 all the way to $5700) when I switched my Dairyland coverage in Colorado to like coverage in Texas.

Took all my limits way down and $1000 deductible (wouldn't make a claim less than $5k) and I was able to get the 1199R and my wifes 899 for $2000.

Sucks to double the rate...but at least I'm not in Colorado anymore so its worth it.

A few of my customers with State Farm have hinted to competitive rates for us in VA. I might look to them in the future. I'm just not looking to move any cars (or anything else) and I'm not entirely sure they will write a MC only policy. It could be an avenue to explore though.

AAA 100/300/100 coverage $100 deductible comp/collision, untimed track days also covered, unlimited miles bike towing and 100 mile car towing $800 for the year. Thanks for the contact scrapperX. Switched from state farm last october.

Had to cancel Progressive after 12 years. $547 a year just for liability but I had 3 tickets in the Audi.

Went with American Family. 3 cars 1 Pani. The price is now 1k a year with $1000 deductible Full Coverage.

Can you share the contact with me, too?

$800 a year is unbelievable for california. How many miles did you state you ride the bike?

I am with USAA (they insure Ca licensed motorcycle riders), I pay $208.37 for 6 months.

Bodily Injury 25,000/50,000
Property Damange 25,000
Uninsured Motorist 25,000/50,000
Medical 25,000
Comp/Collision $500 deductible
Aftermarket comp 5000
Gear and Equipment 1000

2000 and under.

The policy itself was around $730 but I chose the towing service as well for car n bike so that was $70 or $79 for the year. I forget the breakdown.

PM coming
