Is ABS on the 1199 worth the money?

Sorry gents, gotta agree with Frosty on this one. Btw- the ABS system is on both front and rear. At least on the Tri Color I have in front of me right now,, which I highly doubt differs from any other Tri. Look closely near the rotors and you will see the perforated sensor discs on both front and rear.
Perhaps this is why they made some with and some without, so you guys dead set against the concept can opt out.

Front Only? C'mon

PS. Unless this "excerpt" from Ducati.com was what that individual who said ABS is only on the front wheel was referring to? See last sentence.

"The ABS 9ME equipping the 1199 Panigale and 1199 Panigale S as an option and fitted as a standard on the Tricolore, is a latest-generation system with two channels that performs combined braking with control of the lifting of the rear wheel to guarantee not only shorter braking distances, but also the greatest stability during braking. Specifically intended for a sport use, the ABS 9ME, offers three levels of operation, each associated with a Riding Mode; in the RACE mode, the system works only on front discs to guarantee top performance during track use."

abs for sure.

even on the track, imagine braking into a corner over bumps. I wanna see the guys with the balls to go as hard on the brake as you can (could) with this safety option.

I suppose if it saves you from a crash twice and you have a $500 deductible, you recoup your dollars. ;)

ABS on this bike is awesome. I have only tried level 1 and 2. I can't imagine not having it. Brakes are so strong. My new default is ABS1 as I like to lift the rear wheel.
Crazy not to spend the $1K on this. I haven't ridden one without ABS yet, but I don't suspect I could feel any difference. For only 5 lbs of weight, I think it would be great even if you only used it in WET mode.

I have had my S ABS for about a month and have a little over 1,700 miles on it. I have driven in 99.9% hot, dry weather on country roads, and once during a thunder storm. I have used the ABS many, many times, both front and rear (mostly rear) because of sand, but mostly just because of hard aggressive, breaking with the confidence of knowing how much I have left. I know from drills at the CA Superbike School that although I was approaching the limit of traction, I was not at it. So, I'm going to reduce the level of ABS intrusion in sport mode from the default setting; but, not by much.

What happens when a deer comes running out of the woods like a bat out of hell on a collision course with me? I am going to try and slow down, stop, or otherwise avoid impact (perhaps all three) and this will help.
Worth it. Be careful out there.
