Well, just got done with the first full weekend @ COTA. Working on posting up some vids for the masses pretty soon, but thought I'd pass this little tidbit along.

I got most of the recalls done, but didn't have time to get the radiator one completed, as it takes a significant amount of time/work to complete. Though, I don't even think that is going to be enough.

If you are tracking the bike in hot temps, might need to think about some additional cooling. As you can see from the display, ambient temp was 98F. It would bounce around from HIGH to 4/5 bars.

Hmmmm, 96F air temp on hot tarmac isn't even *that* hot for a summer down there. That's a bit worrisome. I'm curious to see if the recall makes a difference. Last thingi need is my cooling system blowing up in the mountains this summer.

Moto, I was next to you in the Saturday morning rider meeting. My V4s has recall done and my temp didn't get that high.

Good thing @StreetFreak was riding at same time as you and he is on this board since he commented that his bike temps did not get as high as yours and he has the radiator update done.

Also I recall a post somewhere saying removing the light deflectors from the front forks adds some cooling.

Thanks for posting your observations.

Maybe I'm just riding harder than you?? :D

Seriously though, that is good to hear. Going to get my bike dropped off today and hopefully get it knocked out.

You coming back out for the day in July?

I was told the reflectors are attached to the spacers on the caliper and that I would need to order extra to remove.

I was there on Saturday. I am sure you were running it harder than I was, but I wasn’t too shy with the throttle =) mine was staying at 3-4 bars..

Dealer did a reflash with the 2 cylinder shutoff at 600 miles, but I haven’t done anything with the radiator.

Coolant level?

Had the Ducati Austin tech's take a look and it seemed normal. Hopefully the update is enough to keep it in check next time. I believe it adds an additional coolant reservoir to the other side of the fairing.

LOL, I know you are as my times where not the best. I also replaced the OEM coolant with engine ice.

The overall heat of the day was killing me. I will do Barber in July not COTA.

I rode a few hardish laps on a standard model immediately after the student/owner finished a session and was quite surprised at how cool his stayed. This was Sunday late in the day. I saw 3 bars max.

I have spent some time on the track and my base V4 without the radiator recall actually stays cooler when running hard on the track than it does on the street. Never really got above 3 bars on the track, even dropped down to 2 regularly after straights. On the street, it normally gets up to 3 and blips up to 4 when I get stuck at lights.
