Hey vo2,

I couldn't help but comment on your tag line. "If your ass is to hot you are to slow - pussy"

Maybe you mean "too hot" and "too slow". Without the extra "o" your statement suggests that a person who desires a warm derrier would be advised to slow down. Which would be quite effective on one of our beloved 1199s.

But, maybe that is what you meant? If so, then it begs the question, do you translate owner's manuals from Italian to English for a living?

Seriously guys, can't even believe this is a thread, but here I find even myself commenting!

Clearly with one wheel higher than the other on a rear stand will give a false reading!

Best solution is get a front stand too and do it.

Or like I do, iPhone torch and a spirit level on the bike kneel at the side and balance the bike, simple.

And seriously guys, this has got to be one of the lightest bike out there and if you are struggling to balance the bike with anything more than 2 fingers maybe you should give up riding??

Of course you could always just ride an older Harley. If there is a puddle on the floor then you need to add some oil.

I simply just pull the bike to the right side, level it as precisely as I can...and check the oil level. Not a problem as the sidestand is down on the left side.

Easy!

I don't have any issues, I've got the old fairing but I just stand the bike up squint and see the site glass in the fairing space, a penlight helps but not essential if you've got decent lighting in your garage.

:D:D:D:D Some people must have ten thumbs.....

Me I stand on one leg to the right of the bike with the front wheel pointed to Bologna and the sun in my back. Holding the bike upright with my right hand and my head tilted 15° to the left I get a clear view of the sightglass. Piece o'cake.

It's little known but all Ducati oil levels are synched with the shadow of the sun on the Bologna clock tower. Simply call up a webcam to check your oil levels.

Note, this excludes the Desmo for which you read it the exact opposite way...or stand on your head.

Before you say "easy", do you have the revised fairing with oil-sight window?

Nope..I dont have an Oil sight window cut-out like most of the Pani Owners.

I just hold a really small bright LED flashlight on my left hand while pulling the bike's right throttle grip with my right hand. Point the LED flashlight onto the fairing's gap between the clutch housing. Then, I get to see the level easily with the flashlight pointed through the gap.

Panigales are very light bikes, so pulling it up from the sidestand can be done by yourself, not like hayabusas or ZX14's...etc...

ok, so I am reading this article about the Mike Hailwood replica circa 1980, based on the 900SS. Evidently this model required the owner to remove the left exhaust along with the one piece fairing to check the oil level. I guess we have it easy guys!
