It's the season...for a new bike

We had a nice 65* day yesterday so I decided to put about 20 miles on this majestic steed. I mean 20 miles is nothing but there still so much sand and gravel on the roads I didn't want to push it. First time I've had the opportunity to take it for a spin since I brought it home. I hate it.... Wish I could have my 848 back. TOTALLY just kidding. Im in absolute LOVE. If you are on the fence about purchasing a Panigale 1199 or 1299 just do it.
In my pre-purchase forum browsing, there were discussion of heat issues, lacking midrange and comfort. Um... Has anyone who complained about heat and comfort experienced the ride of the 848/1098 model? There is no comparison of heat or comfort between the two models IMO. Compared to my 848, the 1199 has significantly less heat. Wrist pressure was less. The stock seat vs. my Sergeant on my 848 was more comfortable, not in padding, but in shape. Mid-range. Ehhh...you got me there, but nothing some term's can't fix. In all, my post-purchase conclusion is that it is a all around smoother and more enjoyable ride. I can't get over the nimbleness. It handles like its on a rail. Mother-nature better give us North East riders some more nice weather so I can get out and ride!!

Also if anyone needs a suggestion on care products. I have always used Zymol on my car, truck and 848 with great success. I felt like trying something different so I went with Meguiars. I won't go back to Zymol.

Poman77,

First, congratulations on your new bike. Second, I too use Zymol on my bike and car as well. I always thought Zymol was a pretty decent product. I may have to look into the Meguiar's products myself.

Don't get me wrong, Zymol is a quality product. I just found that the Meguiars Scratch X removes easier, the wax is more fluid, stretches farther and again, removes easier. Results were a nice deep red. I guess you can call it "wet". :roll eyes: Also I did it by hand. I was going to invest in an random orbital but opted to try it by hand.

A tip for new bike owners...
Do not bring it in for the first service until you have hit the 621 mile mark (which is 1,000 km). Otherwise, your service light may come on during the ride home when you do get the mileage up to 621 miles and then you will have to go back to the dealer to get them to turn the blasted dash service indicator icon turned off.

+1 on that. I'll have to go back to the dealer this year and get mine turned off (again) because I got a new dash put on my bike last year but didn't get enough miles on it to get the light to come back on. Basically the bike thinks it's new and I have to start all over again with the first service mileage. Bummer.
