All,
I performed a DYI for my annual service and wanted to reset the light for another year. I have a 2022 Panigale V4S w/ Upmap for my Termis. Currently, I have the back-to-the-stock map for the reset. Below are the steps I have followed, but the light remains.
- Got the appropriate cables and adapters for hook up.
- Hooked up with Melcodiag and requested the license.
- I got the file and added it to the Melcodiag folder.
- Hit the annual reset, it looks like something is happening. The tab grays out for a minute or so, the OBD lights come on like it's communication, and then nothing.
- I recycle the ignition and the light is still there.
- I tried to unpair the OBD and removed the files completely and did the process over again, but still nothing.

I also got the IAW diag, but not sure what ECU to select for the bike, I tried a couple of random ones and it says the ignition is off. So I am not sure what else to do.

Any ideas that have worked?

Used this to connect with an adapter cable for the 6-pin, Euro5.

Thanks.

might be best to post in the jpdiag forum asking for help from the guy that deals with it

It worked for my 2021 V2, so I didn't have to deal with any errors.

Would you mind sharing the hardware you used. I'm reading a lot of others that it didn't work for and I'm curious if it's the type of cable used causing the issue.

Got a response from JP, seems like the ECU maybe locked and needs a key to reset the light. Ducati wants to make sure the dealers are going to stay in business lol. This is crazy, I can't even DIY a simple oil change.

I doubt that very much. It’s more likely their software isn’t up to the task. I just reset my annual service reminder with an OBDStar iScan.

I saw an add for that, how much is one of those? Plus the Melcodiag is free so can't complain about free.

This is most likely a Euro5 ECU lock down thing. I don’t think anyone has sorted a 22+ V4 3rd party annual service reset yet. I’m talking w OFT and they said they’d have a fix in a “couple weeks” and that was a month ago. And when I checked with them last week they said they needed a couple more weeks 🤷‍♂️

You maybe right, and that's what I was thinking. I haven't heard of anyone successfully doing this on a 22+, only 21 and below. Actually that's a question I posed on the JPforum, but no answers yet. I think I'll just have to goto the dealer and pay the 30 mins of labor on this one. At least until next year, hopefully by then someone has an answer on this.

It's free but doesn't really work.

The iScan Ducati is $389 right now, I paid more back in 2021. I recently used it to successfully reset my pin code. They are typically 2 years behind for full functionality like the dealer tool. Until this last update, I couldn't reset the PIN code. It doesn't say the 2022 is fully supported, but in the menu there is a 2021 EU5 option which should work. In the US, all of the 2021 bikes were EU4. Before my 2021 was fully supported it wouldn't recognize my VIN and I couldn't reset the pin code, but I could reset service reminders, check engine lights and monitor sensor values etc. I'd have to manually select a 2020 EU4 to get it to function. After it updated, everything works perfectly.

Thanks for your input and the breakdown. Maybe I'll get it reset at the dealer and work on getting this next year. Hopefully they'll be all caught up by then lol. It's still crazy that we can't even reset a service light, but that's big money Ducati I guess.

Got in touch with the OBDSTAR iScan and the person confirmed that the device can't do the 22 Panigale V4S yet, maybe in the future, do for now I still have to use the dealer. It's not too bad, 30 mins of labor to reset, but then again it's just a light lol.
Thanks for all the help and input. If I find anything better, I'll post it.

They told me it wouldn't work on my bike too, which wasn't the case. I doubt they have a bike from every year to test it on. They're simply reverse engineering, typical of Chinese innovation.

True, they aren't exactly cheap to just to test on. I just think routine maintenance should be operator level stuff, not dealer specific.

OBDSTAR still partially works for 22+, but you don’t get the full features. You can’t read the bike by the VIN automatically and start the scan, but you can enter the bike manually. On my 2023 V4, I’m able to scan and read codes, but not all the features work yet, such as gear reset, enable gps, reset adaptation values… etc.
